Recovery, Reluctance and Rediscovery.
Hello My former friends and companions. I have returned to put together another incomplete journal of thoughts, training, dieting and various other crap.
For those of you who know me, hello and how are you? Hope all is well and hope you all had a blessed Christmas with friends, family, dogs, cats and/or lotion in front of the warm glow of a laptop. Since around thanksgiving I have been slowly but most assuredly recovering from what I believe was a pinched nerve in my back, causing considerable weakness in my left tricep and/or fingers. Though not fully recovered by any means, my strength has been slowly returning, and I am probably close to 70 percent of my strength. I can bench 225 for about 3 or 4 reps until my left arm can no longer press the weight without extensive body language. (I dont usually bench, but Im using as a rough gauge of where I am, strength wise). Not bad considering 4 weeks ago, I could barely muster the strength to push 135 for one or two reps. So, I am returning to the gym today to resume my workouts, albeit at a much different pace and schedule than I usually do. I am doing a more traditional split, using 9-12 sets per bodypart, which for me is high volume (Mike and I traditionally use HIT-TYPE workouts, michael using 2 -4 sets per bodypart, myself using DC approach, 1 rest-paused set per muscle group in a given workout). Our methods have really worked well to set a solid foundation, but for rehab purposes, I am incorporating more sets because I cannot push myself to failure anymore seeing my left arm is so much weaker than my right in pressing movements. I will post my workout, diet, etc.... later Current stats: age: 28 6'3 265. (down from 278). Lost weight due to slightly elevated blood pressure and bad snoring. Both have been aleviated after dropping weight. Best Lifts, pre injury. Deadlift: 620 x 3 Squat. 530 x 2 Bench: I dont bench, but Ive put up 405 for a single... which is pathetic I know. Seated Military Press: 285 for 6... I never drop below 6 for overhead movements. I was doing bent rows (not at 45 degrees, but not at 90 either.. maybe 70 degree angle) for 365 for 8 (overhand grip) I was pretty happy with those numbers... my eventual goals are 500lb squat for 20 reps 600 deadlift for 10 Military Press 315 for 10 Incline Press of 405 for 10 Those are my all-time bodybuilding goals... once I reach that point in my life, God willing.. I will no longer focus on increasing weight, as I do not need to risk injury for doing anything heavier.. and will focus solely on quality. I am currently leaning out, and would like to get my bodyfat no lower than 8 percent, but no higher than 10... before I begin a much slower, steadier and HEALTHIER bulk... I now know much better what my body responds to not only with strength, but with health, which has become a more important factor now that I am approaching 30... and have a family. Updates shortly.

ha, I knew DD was strong, but I had no idea he was THAT strong, I knew something had to be up with that, plus I was like, wow he aged quite a bit in the past year, I don't remember him being 28 or have a family, lol.
In any event, Camaro those are awe inspiring numbers you have. I just entered my first powerlifting meet and I pulled 520 at the meet and I watch the video every day cause I was so impressed by it, and here you are repping 600. I tried and couldn't quite get 365 up in the bench and my squat was just an epic fail. But then again, you weigh 265 so you must just be a fricken animal, probably in the top .01% of people as far as size and strength go, so I don't feel so bad being in the top 3% maybe. ![]()

Sup Guys. How are things with yall?
Mike, my brother is doing well. He's had some immunity problems the past year and he gets sick a lot, so hes trying to fight off some infections.. but hes a lot better than last year when he was sick ALL the time... took the docs some time to finally figure out what was going on. My rehab is going well. I was doing the chiro 3 times a week, but after two weeks I realized it really wasnt doing me a lot of good for the price I was paying. Im recovering well, and my strength is returning, albeit at a slower pace than I would like. And mind you , those are my best numbers ever... pulling one or two reps on some. I dont work out with that much weight.. pfft.. I wish. I went to the gym yesterday and could only muster 7 or 8 reps for 315.... where before I could probably do 15-20 before. So, its going to be a long journey back. How goes it with all of you?
