Michael Jackson's pet chimp Bubbles: Where is he now?

    Who could forget Bubbles?
Since the death of the pop icon, many have wondered what happened to Jackson's primate companion. It turns out the monkey is alive and healthy in a Florida animal sanctuary, People.com reports.
Jacko's treasured pet chimp was a source of joy to the singer and drew a lot of mockery from the media. The chimpanzee lived with Jackson through the 80's and accompanied the singer to movie premieres, parties, and recording sessions. The pair often dressed in similar outfits.
He may not be getting dressed up these days but Bubbles, age 26, is now at the Center for Great Apes in Wauchula, Florida, and is apparently doing quite well.
"He's a very sweet and nice chimp, he really is," Patti Ragan, sanctuary director, told People. "I've seen him go to the drinking fountain, start to take a sip of water and then, when he hears one of the younger ones coming, he'll step back and let them have a sip."
His life may not be as glamorous as it once was but Bubbles likes to spend his days hanging out with his fellow chimps, listening to music, and eating sweet potatoes. His best friend these days isn't a pop star but a 40-year-old chimp named Sam.
After Bubbles moved out of Neverland Ranch the singer had planned to come visit his former BFF, but apparently never made it.
Jackson has not been supporting the chimp financially and it is unclear if there is any money in his will that will be allocated to support Bubbles.
The sanctuary told People they had not mentioned the singer's passing to the carefree monkey. His day-to-day is not that of a grieving family member.
"We haven't said anything to him yet," said Ragan. "He's been his usual self, interacting with friends, eating well, taking cover when it rains."

Michael Jackson's pet chimp Bubbles: Where is he now?

Over the weekend, I saw a clip about Bubbles on the news. They were basically saying the same thing, but they showed Bubbles some pictures of MJ and he seemed to have recognized him.
The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.
