Headphone thread #2

I want to buy an excellent pair of headphones. Not to have to work out, but to use for sitting down and listening to music.

I'm willing to pay up to 200$.

Any suggestions?

Might want to look into a tube amp too if you are that much into sound.

Sennheiser HD555 or something similar. They make incredible headphones.

Senss cans (personally I'd find another $100 and get the HD600's) or Grado SR225 + headphone amp, even something cheap like the FIIO e5 (available at dealextreme or focalprice) or an CMoy Altoids Pocket Amplifier (you can find them on ebay or build one)

Ok, here is a question. Say I drop 200 bucks on a pair of sweet headphones. Would there be a big difference if I listened to them through my Ipod compared to my earbuds? Or would I need to buy a headphone amp and reroute my ipod or computer through it, or whatever. I don't know much about this stuff.

Ipod isn't known for sound quality (poor op amps and internal DAC's)....give this thread a read and poke around the same site for ideas on making the most of quality head gear.
