So what temperature is the earth supposed to be? Seeing as in the earths history long before the modern industrial revolution temperatures have been both much hotter and much colder than the earth is currently?

How many of those drastic changes were from enormous volcanic eruptions, giant meteors, etc? Anytime there has been a huge plume of shit thrown into the sky there has been extreme changes to our climate. Our impact may not be as sudden but everyday we slowly build on the amount of shit in the atmosphere, the less impact we have the more time we will have to adapt to cyclical climatic changes......

cyclical climatic changes take quite a long time, and im not concerned with our ability to adapt to the environment. Humans live all over the damn world in every habitat we have available to us. the adaption has already taken place.

We need energy reform not because of human activity warming our climate (which is still a theory contesting by a substantial portion of the scientific community) but for the reason of national security and long term economic development.

Yes, cyclical means it's on schedule, it's doesn't need our nor any other catalyst look at the Younger Dryas when a lake dumped so much fresh water into the Atlantic and cold glacial melt from North America caused a small Ice Age, these things had been proceeded by a spell of global warming. Drastic change like this in a little more than a decade where Europe is turned into Siberia, something like that would cause major problems in the world. Then we come to find 50 years later having cut our pollution by 50 % may have bought us 30 years to adapt? I would rather be proactive than just chalk shit up to the way things are.....
