Parents sue Walmart over kids' bath pictures
Walmart sued over kids' bath pictures - Crime & courts- msnbc.com
Quote:
PHOENIX - An Arizona couple accused of sexual abuse after taking bath-time photos of their children and then trying to have them developed at Walmart are suing the state and the retail giant.
Lisa and Anthony "A.J." Demaree's three young daughters were taken away by Arizona Child Protective Services last fall when a Walmart employee found partially nude pictures of the girls on a camera memory stick taken to the store for processing, according to the suit.
The Peoria couple's attorney said Walmart turned the photos over to police and the Demarees were not allowed to see their children for several days and didn't regain custody for a month while the state investigated.
Neither parent was charged with sexual abuse and they regained custody of their children — then ages 1 1/2, 4 and 5 — but the Demarees claim the incident inflicted lasting harm.
The couple is seeking undetermined monetary damages from both Walmart and the state and have requested a jury trial.
Richard Treon, the lawyer for the Demarees, said the images of the girls were part of a group of 144 photographs taken mostly during the family's vacation in San Diego.
There were seven to eight bath- and playtime photos of the girls that showed a "portion or outline or genitalia."
"There was nothing sexual about it," Treon said. "This is a parent's worst nightmare."
One lawsuit names Arizona, Peoria and the state Attorney General's Office as defendants, claiming that employees from each defamed them by telling friends, family members and co-workers that they had "sexually abused" their children by taking pornographic pictures of them.
|
I hope they win their lawsuit against all defendants. I hope all Walmart emplyees involved are fired. I hope everyone involved at the State Attorney General's Office is disbarred. This is retarded.
I guess I better call my mom and dad and tell them to burn my bath time photos from my childhood before they are arrested.

agreed. its saddening that people immediately think child porn. no one is "posing". I have baby pictures of my son, and im sure there was a picture of me changing his diaper. Walmart will surely lose this one.

This was, indeed, a horrible incident. I'm glad they are suing the state. Sure enough, Walmart has deep pockets, but they were just covering their ass by reporting it. The police should have met with the DA and dropped it before an arrest or seperation. A whole month? Goverment officials need to be held accountable for this gross injustice.

Man, you know how many times my Mom has embarrassed me with my naked in cowboy boots at 4 years old pictures?

I went a bit too far on this issue but i've had a shitty day as well........walmart sux!

how about you open your eyes and realise that it was not just one groups fault.....Walmar employees, the idiots that they hire, felt it needed to be reported so they did just to cover their own ass and get some advice...when the cops show up, they look at the pictures and think nothing of it but they probably call their supervisor who decides to call his supervisor and see what to do...after a while, they decide that its not worth it to do the common sence thing and let it go but rather take a precaution and cover their asses and take this further so its out of their hands and people like you can't go back on them and say "the cops didnt do anything".....rather, its the whole system, our politics our political correctnes and the way we believe everything that the media tells us...these bull shit politicians ruined our country and its only getting worse

Yeah, sure...this is all politics. It has nothing do do with a long chain of people who could have stopped this dead in it's tracks by simply showing common sense. This is why I have zero respect for the law.
I feel much safer around criminals than law enforcement. I feel safer in ghetto than I do in a courthouse.

probably the person who decided to alert the authorities knew it was bullshit too. people aren't just retarded they're fucking assholes too.
i hope the parents win and rightfully they should because a childs chance of being abused once in state custody increases 500%.
true story. here a woman duct taped a 5 year old girl to a highchair in a basement full of trash. 30 feet of the tape out of the 40 was wrapped around the little girls head. she died. her crime was crying for her mother and the woman who killed her, had custody worked for childrens services.
According to the judge who tried the case, “Logan’s defiance infuriated Sally Schofield to the point that she secured Logan to the high chair by wrapping layers of duct tape around Logan’s torso and behind the back of the chair to prevent her getting out.” That left Logan with only one outlet to express her displeasure. “To silence her screams, [Schofield] wrapped more duct tape under her chin, over her head and across her mouth…then [she] left Logan to struggle against her bonds in isolation” in the basement.
(WGBH Boston)
When Schofield later checked on Logan—by some accounts more than an hour later—the girl was dead. Medical examiners concluded she had suffocated. Before calling for emergency services, Schofield removed the duct tape and hid it. Police investigators later found 40 feet of it—with tufts of Logan’s hair still stuck to it.
if anyone comes to your house with the intent of taking your children you should legally be allowed to shoot them in the head.

ok i got carried away. that story just gets to me. my son got knocked out n locked in the dark at his school screaming for me till his throat was sore. this little girl sat in that basement n was wrapped in duct tape cuz she wouldn't stop screaming for her mother. and the cunt that killed her tries to make it sound like she was screaming for her. bs. the little girl told her mom at visits that sally was hurting them. she got 20 years but she should be dead. maybe someone will get her when she gets out. i hope so.
