Again I say that a good lawyer could claim that any perceived threat is speculation. Gunshots are a common sound used in gangsta rap.. A specific threat is " Hey Mr. Officer so and so I'm gonna put a gun in your asshole and leave you with shit for brains, but what difference will that make.."

"You ain’t gonna tell me nothing,Try to pull me over next time? [gunfire] A’ight, it’s overtime.Over my dead fucking body,Take me away, dog? Not stopping me.You better bring the whole U.S. Army, and the fucking Marines to try to take me in."

You are that trooper, who very likely may have to interact with this person, you wouldn't see that as a direct threat of violence to you personally? I would.

Your comments suggest you skimmed the article and the thread, or, you simply don't "get it." Im as strong a defender of Const. Rights anyone, but the 1A, contrary to popular belief, is not a free for all to say what ever you want to say when ever you feel like saying it, ergo, the old yelling fire in a movie theater example, or making specific threats against specific people.

Now, I think they crossed that line from 1A freedom of speech, to specific threats of violence (which many, having a double standard, feel is Ok to do if it's only cops...) but it may not hold up in court.

Will be interesting to see what happens.
Look it's not like I love gangsta rap nor thugs, but this case is weak in my opinion and will only, as I said before, help to bolster 2 shitheads in a genre plagued by apish copycats thus multiplying their numbers....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

As I said, might very well be that a jury or judge does not see it as a specific enough threat, and what they said is 1A protected. I'm just saying, I understand why the DA considered it a specific threat and took the action they did. I think they crossed that line, but you may be right on the above. We'll just have to wait and find out.

That's one way to look at it, and it may be right in the end. At the same time, A DA for example has to weigh what the risk to benefit is of not responding to what they viewed (as I do...) as a specific threat to the people named. I doubt much will really happen to these two schmucks in the end, but at the same time, I don't think people have the right to dismiss it, 'cause if it were me or you, I bet we wouldn't want it dismissed/ignored.
