Franken Cuts Lieberman Off, Won't Let Him Finish Floor Speech (VIDEO)

In a fun bit of drama on the Senate floor today, Sen. Al Franken cut off Sen. Joe Lieberman during a speech, angering Lieberman's good friend Sen. John McCain.
Here's what happened; Lieberman was giving a ten-minute speech on health care reform. Franken, who was presiding over the Senate, cut him off when his ten minutes were up. When Lieberman requested unanimous consent for an extra few minutes to finish his speech, Franken, in his capacity as a senator from Minnesota, objected. And, in his capacity as presiding officer, Franken honored the objection.
After a brief moment of tension, Lieberman laughed and said he didn't take it personally, and requested that the rest of his speech be put in the record.
Then McCain took the floor to defend his friend, saying he'd never seen anything like it.

McCain pointed the problem out in his rebuttal. In his 20+ years in the Senate he didn't recall someone being denied. Further proof of the old boy network where they suck each other off at the expense of the country. Glad Franken has the balls to shake things up.

Yeah but later the other Senator said the same thing happened earlier that morning, so I think this is proof that McCain has been sleeping through hearings and was pissed off that his nappy poo time was interrupted.....

I wouldn't have voted for Franken and didn't like him very much during election season, but I like his against the grain approach right now.

I didn't know what to expect from him but from what I see he is sharp and he is actually going by the book.

You've been following me around ever since you threw a hissy fit and left the board because I called you out for running your mouth on something that you knew nothing about (MLK Jr. if I remember correctly), and then you came back a couple weeks later with your tail between your legs like a scolded dog, looking for approval.

I do not care what your opinion is. You can continue to respond to everything I post with some unintelligent caustic dribble, or you can just get a life. But the fact is there are a lot more personal and venomous things that get said on this board every single day than my remark about a pathetic congressman. The fact that you try to act as if it warrants some "negative rep" is a joke, and just shows how pathetic you are.

You don't think it is an embarrassment to have a congressmen with pictures floating around the internet of him spread eagle with diapers and bunny ears on?

I also think his policies are simplistic, divisive, collectivist, class-warfare perpetuating nonsense. It is embarrassing that his political platform is the equivalent of a fifth grader trying to get elected class president - "if you vote for me, we will have free soda at recess." Some moderate democrats have a few decent ideas, but there are many like Franken who simply run on the promise of redistributing wealth to maximize handouts, and frankly that is embarrassing as well.
