it seems like he's just saying can't we all respect each others religious differences. he sounds stupid yea but not like his beliefs are the only ones he's willing to accept.
This was on my facebook this afternoon and I had to share it. I know a few of you will agree with the statement, but still this is exactly why I left South Carolina. These comments were made by the same person posted minutes apart.

Don't look back ~ You're not going that way!

Ok, the US was founded under god (which by the way was NOT in our original currency, that's fairly recent).
Christians have a God. Jews have a God. Muslims have a God.
Last I checked, the currency doesn't specify "In a Christian God, we trust"

No gym for home, work out floor with 30, but is it for 20 like 30 lb when you no lift it to be for men, for 30 lbs instead? or half is 10 for 20 pounds?

well it may prove something i heard anyway, that when a person is angry their iq goes down 30 points. that's tough when you're starting point was 50.

It just seemed to me like a fairly close minded statement in disguise. It contradicts itself a lot. For instance...
* "No one elses reigion offends me enough for me to censure their words or feelings," but if you don't like a nation "founded under [a Christian] GOD," then leave. So no, we're not "censuring" you, but you can kindly get your ass out of my Christian, Christmas celebrating country. HOWEVER, while you are not allowed to dislike Christmas nor "the disagree" with it, you do have the freedom to not celebrate it(?) and to talk as if you do not like it, due "t freedom of speech." So [Christian]-God-dangit, you're using my Christian money, and while I endorse freedom of speech, you better not give me any of this hannaka or Kwanza crap.
Athiests and all non-Christian religions, though, are exempt from the previous statement because, well, they have problems. *
So I don't know who specifically she is tolerating and who she wants out of the country. I guess she's tolerant of Catholics, Methodists, and Baptists?

What Would Fetus Do?

i thought he/she was just a redneck saying dang it we love god here n if you don't wanna hear about mine don't talk about yours. like he/she was told to shut up first. like maybe he/she wished someone a merry christmas n they were rude to him/her. a mind at least cracked open is better than a closed one. enlightenment has to start somewhere.
i know what you're saying. my parents make me cringe with this same thing tho. posing like they aren't racist while using the n word. my mother's bird died the day obama was elected and honest to god his name was whitey.

That's too great...

Actually, the country was founded by people of all races, religions, and practices, but that's a whole different discussion.
The Quakers were probably the most successful of the first British to successfully colonize the new world. They were in fact Christians, however the path Christianity took afterward is an abomination in their eyes.
They were extremely progressive. They were against slavery. They were for women and gay rights. They were pretty incredible considering the times. Their image of God wasn't remotely similar to anything modern day mainstream Christians believe. They saw God as a spirit who resides in the hearts of everyone giving them guidance and strength. Hell, their religion isn't very similar either. They believed in making peace with those of other religions and beliefs. They made peace with the Native Americans. Some of you might remember a little American holiday we have here called Thanks Giving. The Quakers were peaceful and tolerant.
Then you have the Puritans. They were some real cock suckers. They fled Great Brittan after the Catholics tore them a new asshole by ejecting them from the Church of England and calling the dissenters. Not long after they got on a boat to come here looking for religious freedom. The only problem was they only meant freedom for themselves, and expected all of society to bow to their beliefs. They wanted the church to control every facet of society. The Puritans believed in a harsh, judgmental God.
They believed in the hierarchy among men as divine order. That means domination of man over woman, parents of children, and masters over slaves. They did not believe in religious toleration, which was pretty fucking hypocritical considering their circumstances for being here. Sadly, this is what most resembles modern day mainstream conservative Christianity.
Now, here is some real funny irony. The puritans changed over time morphing into the modern day liberal progressive christian. They realized that strict control of religious beliefs by the government was a bad idea. They opted for freedom and liberty over government sanctioned spiritual beliefs. This was the beginnings of the separation of church and state, and an opinion that was a complete 180 from the beliefs of the original puritans that got off the boat.
This is only two of the many different groups that colonized the states. They had completely different views on almost everything, and the puritans completely changed they beliefs on how religion should play a part in society. Calling them both Christians is an insult to both of them. Here you have one religion, but two completely different meanings behind "In God we trust". There were many other Christian denominations that settled here who also had completely different beliefs in respect to the nature of God and God's relationship to Christ.
That was the easiest way I could summarize the point, and this is directed towards people who boohoo about how Christians founded the country, and now don't have any rights. "In God we Trust" doesn't mean a fucking thing. It means something different to everyone. It doesn't validate your dumb fucking beliefs that Christians are untitled to moral superiority. It doesn't mean your retard traditions of Santa Clause and Merry Christmas should be government sanctioned.
You can say Merry Christmas to anyone you want, as long as you don't work for the government and/or for a private company that has decided to tell you that you can't. The freedom to practice your own brew of Christianity is protected by the same laws that keep religion out of the government. That's the trade off. That is the price you pay to keep the government pure of religious control. If you don't like, find another job. Quit your cashier job at Walmart if you don't like it. I get to say Merry Christmas all I want at my job. If you believe that Christianity should dictate our laws and practices, you are going against the Christians who founded the country. You are acting like spoiled brats, because you aren't getting your way.
Most of the people who are angry about this stupid shit are angry at the wrong people. You should be angry at your employer. They are the ones who decided that it is more profitable for them to remain neutral in a culturally diverse society.
Man, I could really go on and on about this, but this post, much like Christmas, as become a beast that I can't feed.
Merry god damn Christmas, and bah fucking humbug!
KelJu, just laugh at the facebook don't start another stupid argument that won't change anyone's belief and is just going to sever ties.
Okay KelJu I respect you and I respect your beliefs but your information is really distorted and bias. For one, the Puritans chose to leave England, they weren't kicked out. This and various other bits of information are incorrect and paint a bad picture on religion, especially Christianity. I will refrain from turning this into an argument but please lets not bring up religion as an issue again because you will always be able to find distorted information to suit your argument.

[quote=T_man;1943660]You stated your opinion and I respect it.Yea? And I got mine too. I'm voicing my opinion and speaking my mind, just like he was. I don't see how counteracts what I said.
Read this whole thread from the start and you will understands why he wrote that
No argument on this side, I just don't understand why you are getting so sensative about his post.Besides I said I don't want to start an argument out of this
If he is wrong please correct him.
If he isn't wrong and it's all true then you just have to realize the truth and deal with it.
That's all....I'm not being mean, just saying.

analysis is a good thing.

By the way, this isn't very cool at all. You said I am wrong on points a, b, and c, but you don't want to argue.
Then why did you make a post on why I am wrong? You should started the argument right there. Can you see how this looks from my perspective?
But, fuck it. I don't really care.
Thanks a lot Mino.
There is no way to know if I am 100% right or not. It is history, and history is never certain. However, I am researched, and if this were a term paper, I would have all of the sources and credentials to back it up.

Because it's going to provoke someone with strong feelings towards religion (like me) to defend it. Therefore an argument will commence.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
