when I was with AT&T I loved my iPhone so that is my vote.
Apple iPhone 3GS
HTC Nexus One by Google
Motorola Droid
RIM BlackBerry Bold 9700
Samsung Instinct HD
Palm Pre
HTC Hero
HTC Droid Eris

There are so many choices and each one has it's good and it's bad.

I'm sick of all this smartphone bullshit. I just want an old school flip phone when the time comes.
I'm a BB guy so I'm biased. If I were ever to jump ship it would be to an android platform. The Nexus looks pretty nice.

I am leaner towards the Nexus myself, before that I was waiting for the IPhone to end it's contract with ATT.
I have Sprint but my contract is now finished.

Can't really find any recent news.
AT&T's exclusive deal to sell Apple's iPhone in the U.S. expires next year, the WSJ confirms. But AT&T (T), which has gotten a lot of mileage out of selling Apple's phone, is trying to extend the deal until 2011, the WSJ's Amol Sharma reports.
Will Apple renew? AT&T's flaky 3G network has been one of the iPhone's worst features -- at least in our experience in New York. And Apple (AAPL) could probably sell a lot more phones if they were also offered at Verizon Wireless, now the no. 1 provider in the U.S. by subscriber count.
One of Apple's main reasons to stay with AT&T exclusively would be to avoid having to make a CDMA version of the iPhone that would work on Verizon's 3G network (and few other networks around the world). Or a 3G phone that would work on T-Mobile's unusual U.S. frequency.

I've heard the new Droid is awesome. The iPhone looks great. A friend has one of those.
I have the BlackBerry "8-track", a Curve. Do like it, though.
Happy choosing!

If you're on T-Mobile, I like the Motorola Cliq. It's got a similar (if not the same) technology as the Droid.

This isn't as easy as I thought it would be.

I was looking at the iPhone, but need an unlocked ojne so I cna use it on this side of the world while I'm here.
Those of you who have one, how is the texting? Does the iphone give you a keyboad touch pad to use? Before deployment, I had the black berry and liked the key board.

I love my blackberry 9630 for its usefulness and practicality. The 9630 tour is the only phone I know of that is compatible on any network in the world without having to hack it and switch out chips to make it work. I love the blackberry App store, plus I like not having to use the Blackberry App store to load apps if I don't want to.
Don't buy an iPhone. Most of the best smartphone developers have had enough of Steve's shit and Apple's ridiculous rules. They are already starting to quit iPhone App development to go develop software for google OS smartphones.
My buddy got the new hero, and I was blown away at the gui. It is better than blackberry as far as having an attractive and easy to use interface.
The MOTO DROID rocks. droidforums dot net is a good spot to learn about them.

I am really glad that the Iphone has launched the market in this direction, I can't wait until we see which one of these new phones comes out on top for now I will stick with my Iphone it took me quite a while to dig through the thousands of apps and load it with all the books and music...right now I don't want to go through that process all over again...

I had to pick between several of these phones about a month ago and ended up going with the IPhone after researching everything.
I can't say I'm disappointed with my decision and though I don't know much about every phone listed here, I know my brothers both got the brand new blackberry and while they're partial to it, I know they have their regrets about not going with the IPhone.
I hate Apple and refuse to buy most of their products, but the IPhone (like the IPod, the only other Apple product I own) is revolutionary.

A co-wroker has an Unlocked Iphone and even though he doesn't have the App Store he still is able to find plenty of cool apps, but he mainly uses it as a phone, text msgr and Ipod....
Every phone company is trying to make an Iphone equivalent so obviously there is something about it....until the rest have mastered making their own I'm sticking with the Original....
And I would welcome another company handling Iphone so the load on AT&T would be lifted a bit,....
