Thread: Anyone know a bit about Indians?

My grandpa gave me these, he found them on his farm in Charlotte Iowa (Clinton County), he has found a lot of arrowheads, every now and then when they plow the fields and kick up the top soil he says he will spot a "shiny rock" glaring from the sun and it will turn out to be an arrowhead.

All I know is they are made of flint rock, the larger one appears to be either a spearhead or perhaps a scalping knife?

I plan to do a little research to see what tribes were around this area that they might belong to....

anything of value here?

I want to look around and see if I can find a hatchet head or something, that would be bad ass

Ohhh yea, and they are all in pretty damn perfect shape

My father gave me a bunch of them that he found while hunting in Missouri as a young man. He also told me about the time he came upon these mounds that were a burial ground, he dug into one a little ways and found an arrowhead, when he picked it up the wind started blowing really hard and dark clouds started rolling over head, he hurried up and put the arrowhead back and covered up where he dug. He then backed away and headed off for the little gully where he used to hunt by and the weather started clearing up. My father was never the type to make up hoodoo voodoo stories so I believe it really happened, he thought that those burial grounds might even be a tribe we are descended from on his mothers French side, our great-great grandfather being a fur trapper in the area who married a Native girl....

I remember for a school project me and my dad used the original methods to make an arrow and spear from the collection, that was a lot of fun, even used deer sinew, tree sap and willow branches....
