Even in 2010, growing up gay isn't easy. Add in the complicating factors of being a mentally challenged, bi-racial guy who wants to wave around pom-poms in a small town, and you have a recipe for the most hellacious high school experience in Eastern Washington.
Benjamin T Mann is a student at Garfield-Palouse High School (local population: 1,100) who says the school is discriminating against his wishes to do what all the other cheerleaders are doing. Namely, dance, wave pom-poms, wear a proper uniform and not just stand like there like a statue moving his arms.
That's what Grundy and his mom say he's been reduced to since the cheer leading coach instructed him he couldn't gyrate his hips like the girls do and the athletic director allegedly suggested he be the team mascot. Since writing letters to ACLU and a local Congresswoman, Garfield has offered Grundy a uniform and pom-poms. But that's not enough, says his mom.
As you can see in the video above, Grundy's mother is what you might refer to as a Grizzly Bear. A primal necessity considering (and this can't be emphasized enough) Grundy is a mentally challenged, bi-racial gay kid growing up in a small town who wants to be a cheerleader. So excuse her when she says she wants to take her poor son's plight to Congress. She's just acting the way any Mama Bear would when her cub was born with a "torment me" sign stuck to his back.

What a crock of shit.

The school has a clear cut role for the girls and guys in cheerleading. The guys stand still, move a little, and throw the girls. The girls run, jump, and gyrate.

But he's not allowed to do what the girls do!

Boo-fucking-hoo!

Just because he didn't get into cheerleading for the reason that most guys do, to man-handle hot girls, doesn't mean he gets to bitch because he can't be one of the girls.

He's the one being an asshole. Fuck him and fuck is grizzly-assed mom!

I wish I could drive a bus around the state and pickup all the odd people that keep making news here. I'd buss them to Nebraska or maybe Mino's apartment complex so they could be in the weird news all the time.

Not only is fucked up for the reasons I previously stated, but for another as well.

Male or female, part of being a cheerleader is looking good. Being at least physically fit and preferably have an attractive face.

That piece of crap has neither. The faculty was cool enough to let that eye sore on the cheer squad, and how did he repay them? He made a stink about them being closed-minded because they wouldn't let him play the part of a girl.

I hope he catches a bus via the front bumper.

Just watched the vid. This is fucking over the top! I kept looking for the "Onion" logo on it somewhere. Nobody wants to see that fucking freak of nature in a goddamn skits shaking it's hips FFS! I heard this on the radio yesterday but they didn't say he was mentally challenged. Lots of guys are in competitive cheer-leading, gay or not, and IMO there is nothing wrong with that.

However, you have to "try out" for cheer-leading. You are good or you are not. If you are not good enough to make the squad then end of story and you have no right to sue over this.

This is the logical extension of our idealized-victim culture. Pretty soon people will be screaming discrimination because they can't use a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as a driver's license. "WHY ARE YOU DISCRIMINATING AGAINST MY SANDWICH!!!"

And why? Why, you ask? There is a lesser known subspecies of the familiar concept of divide and conquer, its called divide and rule. Real theory, look it up. Thats basically what the American Democrats are doing - you pit Americans against each other based on race, gender, socioeconomic status, or any other arbitrary division in order to get them squabbling amongst themselves. That way they won't notice when their money and their liberties are confiscated.

This idealized-victim culture has gotten absolutely out of hand, to the point where the ACLU feels the need to defend admitted dog torturers, without a single shred of evidence that a white dog torturer wouldn't be treated the same way.
