Milwaukee Mother Shoots Son During Prank

By The WTMJ News Team MILWAUKEE - A prank turns to terror on Milwaukee's north side.

It happened when a 21-year-old man thought it would be funny to scare his mother when she got home from shopping Thursday night.

He put on a ski mask, confronted her behind their home and pretended to rob her.

That's when she pulled out a .357 revolver and fired several times.

Her son was hit at least twice by bullets, one of them to the groin.

He is in the hospital this morning, but there is no word on his condition.

Officials say they discovered two guns on the scene of the shooting in the 3700 block of N. 13th Street.

There was a report years back of a girl who surprised her father by leaping out of a closet. Surprised, he shot her by reflex. The newspaper offered that she died in his arms saying, "I love you, daddy."

And the story of the father hunting with his two sons. Dad shot the one son accidentally, told the other son to run for help, and then shot himself due to the immense grief/guilt, apparently.

It's a messed up world.

What kind of crackhead 'pretends' to ROB their own mother anyway? Jump out on someone sure, that can be a giggle, but actually do a mock armed robbery on your own mother at age 21?

I call bullshit. He was very actually trying to rob her to support his crack habit and the pretend hold-up story is just his mother trying to keep his stupid ass out of jail. Hopefully she blew his junk off so the moron can't procreate.

I don't think that is the same story Curt is talking about. I think the girl was 6 or 7.

I read a book years back called emotional intelligence where that story is used as a case study for how fear causes most higher cognitive abilities to break down.

It is a horribly sad story. You buy a gun to protect your family, and then you end up killing them instead.

Ah there was a story like that she came home from college and used her key dad shot her 2-3 times sad. Thats why i alway call before going to someone house unless they owe me money then..well ..

No, probably not. According to DoJ statistics for violent crimes (robberies, assaults and rapes) less than half (closer to a quarter) of the attackers are armed.
