IMO,

The problem with the Tea Party Convention and the Tea Party movement is that it's gone "mainstream" for the most part.

Politicians are jumping board, and so are TV personalities that chase ratings.

I also don't like any identitification with any political party.

The GOP is a part of this. So are past Presidents of the GOP and Dems over the last several decades.

The problems the US has today - and they are BIG problems - were set in place several decades ago.

I do agree with Palin that the movement should be "leaderless" and not led by one person or a group of people.

The Tea Parties started in 2007, and it's founder has already publicly criticized the movement for losing its focus.

I agree.

Will the Tea Party affect anything? Honestly know.

There won't be any policy changes in the US because of the Tea Parties.

How many people are serious about this movement?

How will they express their sentiment? By voting for a major party, which is just more of the same?

Unfortunately there are many different Tea Party organizations which do not see eye-to-eye with one another regarding what the underlying goals of the Tea Party movement should be.

It may have originally started as a revolt against tax raises (and yes for you math challenged, letting the Bush tax cuts for businesses lapse is a tax raise) but has morphed into nothing more than a party to complain about everything Obama.

I didn't like Bush all that much because he let the house and senate roll over him all the time and in the end eventually forced him to sign the first TARP bill.

I don't like Obama because being President isn't an on-the-job training position and reading a teleprompter that makes him sound smart isn't a qualification to be president. Hopefully that vote for "Hope and Change" was worth it.

For those complaining about health insurance premium's going up, find some time to read the health care reform bill. Insurance companies are going to be hit with tens of millions $$ in new fees and taxes they' need top be prepared to pay. This equates to thousands of job cuts to save those $$$'s.

You want to lower healthcare costs start protesting the the doctors and hospitals charging ridiculous fees

$89 for a mucous membrane removal tool (a damn tissue!)
or
$300 for a medical consultation:
Doctor (Hi how are you doing today?)
Patient ( "I'm doing good")
Doctor (Okay have a good day)
or
$100 for 2 x pancakes, small cup of OJ, small cup of fruit

I don't agree with many of the practices of insurance companies but most blame on that lies squarely on the shoulders of the BMW/Mercedes/Ferrari driving doctors and hospital administrators gouging the insurance companies and the patients.

It's political opportunism - nothing new here.

With the economy bad (and it will be bad for a few more years, IMO) people are going after the incumbents.

It's a political strategy.

The particular political strategy is to "cut spending."

But cutting spending is honestly not possible, unless serious sacrifices are going to be made. And these sacrifices may result in unrest.

Interesting, she wants Rahm Emanuel chief of staff fired for using the word "retards" to describe liberal groups yet when Rush says ""Our political correct society is acting like some giant insult's taken place by calling a bunch of people who are retards, retards." she say's it's OK, "Rush Limbaugh was using satire."


Guess she doesn't want to lose her biggest supporter but it just shows you how much of a phony she is.

A couple of notes on a your hand sure beats the hell out of an hour long speech written by some B.S. artist and read off a teleprompter like a moron. That buffoon couldn't speak a coherent sentence without one.

I wouldn't want Palin in office as Pres/V.P or anything else for that matter because she's to dingy and doesn't really have any good processes for fixing this country but the job of President isn't an on-the-job training position either. Unfortunately that's what it's become for the remaining three years so we're screwed no matter what.

While I'd agree that he does utlize the prompter a bit much, I think it's a bit absurd to refer to Barack Obama as a "buffoon" who "couldn't speak a coherent sentence without one." He's done quite well speaking at town halls, debates and at the recent Q&A with Republican members of Congress.


Oh, and I'd definitely spray Palin up. MILF fo sho!!!!!!!!!!!

Politicians have been reading speeches on paper for hundreds of years. The teleprompter is now used by some (Dole, in 1996 at the GOP Convention).

Most speeches for national politicians are written by speech writers.

For example, Mathew Scully wrote Palin's GOP convention speech 6 weeks before they gave it.

After Palin was chosen as the VP, Scully added details and biographical specifics about Palin into the speech.

One of George W. Bush's main speech writers was Micheal Gearson.

Gearson's style is evident in many GWBs speeches.

I think Sara Palin is dull. She would be very close to the last person I would vote for for any elected office. She has said nothing nor wrote anything that tells me she is intelligent. What we have to remember is that it is often not the person elected president that harms the country but those he brings with him. Do you really want a set of evil geniuses pulling the strings of a chatty Cathy Sara Palin doll?
