They changed it so they wouldn't be the same year as the Summer Olympics.

I'm watching the US hockey game right now and got thinking back to how the "miracle on ice" happened in 1980 which if an Olympics were to occur every four years, would not equate to having the Olympics in 2010.
Upon doing some research, I found that there were a Winter games in 1992 and 1994 and then carried on with 1998.
Why the hell was there a Winter Olympics twice in a four year period?

The US controlled most of the play yesterday but they looked real sloppy. Missing passes, falling down, fumbling the puck...
That said, I think olympics hockey should be live on TV everytime I hop on a cardio machine. 45 minutes on the elliptical yesterday flew by. Another game is on this afternoon.Finland vs Slovakia or some shit.

The primetime coverage on NBC is awful. Too much human interest background crap, and too much figure skating. There are several other NBC-owned channels that show live events during the day. The USA network has the daytime hockey on. MSNBC had the Team Canada game last night. So, stay away from NBC and you can see some good stuff here.
I was home Monday afternoon and xc skiing was on. That looks hard.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
