2D vs. 3D movies
Do you think this will be the new thing like Talkies and Color back in the day changed the whole art form....
I find my self able to get immersed into a 2d movie as easily as a 3d, in fact I find 3d movies tend to shock me out of the immersion.....
At some point I see us with these concave trapezoid screens(wider at the top) where the movies will surround you more and you feel completely pulled into the scenes, now that would be an experience....Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I keep running through what a camera would be like for capturing images for a screen like that to be effective.....One version is this multi-lobal lens and an array of ccd's arranged to capture in the same pattern as the screen....the main forward focus would be semi-fisheye and software in the camera would merge the outer images to blend into a smooth conical panorama.... Ever wonder why you have a headache or are sick or nauseous after a 3D movie? Current 3D technology only uses something like 2 of the 8 or 9 "inputs" our brain uses to judge depth. You have to literally ignore most of your depth perception to concentrate on a 3D movie. There's info out there that says the 3D TVs that companies are going to come out with have the potential to permanently screw up the brains of developing children if they watch too much 3D.

3D sucks, but only because my eyes suck at life and can't see in 3D. I try to watch 3D movies and walk away with frustration and a headache. Fuck 3D. And those 3D posters where you stare a lot of squiggles and a boat pops out don't work either.

The Acer made a computer that can easily convert a 2D movie and instantly convert it into 3D.
The next of TV's are going to have 3D.

Avatar was the first 3d movie we have ever watched. First time we watched it was in 2d then we wnt back again about a week later to see how the 3d was. Some of the effects of the 3d were great but the problem is that most of the outer part of the screen was very blurry. We were sitting further in the back so maybe that was the problem. I cant say I would want every movie in 3d but once in a while is ok.
