Shocking news! Ricky Martin is Gay!

After years of fighting off rumors about his sexuality, Latin singer Ricky Martin has finally just posted the following message on his official Web site, telling the world he is gay.
"Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment. These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed ... I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am," he wrote.
"What will happen from now on? It doesn't matter. I can only focus on what's happening to me in this moment. The word 'happiness' takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution," Marin continues.
Martin admits he never talked about his sexuality because people advised him not to. "Many people told me: 'Ricky it's not important,' 'it's not worth it,' 'all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse,' 'many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature.' Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions," he adds.
Earlier this month, Barbara Walters revealed she regretted trying to force Martin to open up about his sexuality in a 2000 interview, saying that her questioning may have ended his career. "In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was," she told The Toronto Star. "A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now, I feel it was an inappropriate question."
During the interview, Walters tells him, "You know, you could stop these rumors. You could say, as many artists have, 'Yes I am gay,' or you could say, 'No I'm not,' or you could leave it, as you are, ambiguous. I don't want to put you on the spot, but it's in your power to do it."

Barbawa shouldn't feel guilty, Ricky Martin was the reason Ricky Martin's career died, it's the era of the one hit wonder then go on to reality tv for the real fame...
I heard a promising piece on NPR the other day about how record companies lose to much money on these one pump chumps so they are going to have to start marketing talent again, musicians are going to have to prove themselves worthy of gold and platinum records instead of relying on the marketing juggernaut to get them there.
With the Internet so many bands are starting to build their own little followings, not just local but worldwide...I think thats how it's going to end up in the end bands all over will be able to get themselves out there and build their own fanbase not based on media buzz but based on their talents, they'll eventually break from their cult followings to more ears and we'll have a better lot to choose from, good music will prevail once again...
