    Another mexican take over

On any other day at Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Daniel Galli and his four friends would not even be noticed for wearing T-shirts with the American flag. But Cinco de Mayo is not any typical day especially on a campus with a large Mexican American student population.
Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal's office.
"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."
Story continues below ↓ advertisement | your ad here

The boys said the administrators called their T-shirts "incendiary" that would lead to fights on campus.
"They said if we tried to go back to class with our shirts not taken off, they said it was defiance and we would get suspended," Dominic Maciel, Galli's friend, said.
The boys really had no choice, and went home to avoid suspension. They say they're angry they were not allowed to express their American pride. Their parents are just as upset, calling what happened to their children, "total nonsense."
"I think it's absolutely ridiculous," Julie Fagerstrom, Maciel's mom, said. "All they were doing was displaying their patriotic nature. They're expressing their individuality."
But to many Mexican-American students at Live Oak, this was a big deal. They say they were offended by the five boys and others for wearing American colors on a Mexican holiday.
"I think they should apologize cause it is a Mexican Heritage Day," Annicia Nunez, a Live Oak High student, said. "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."
As for an apology, the boys and their families say, 'fat chance.'
"I'm not going to apologize. I did nothing wrong," Galli said. "I went along with my normal day. I might have worn an American flag, but I'm an American and I'm proud to be an American."
The five boys and their families met with a Morgan Hill Unified School District official Wednesday night. The district and the school do not see eye-to-eye on the incident and released the following statement:
The district does not concur with the Live Oak High School administration's interpretation of either board or district policy related to these actions.
The boys will not be suspended and were allowed to return to school Thursday. We spotted one of them when he got to campus -- and, yes, he was sporting an American flag T-shirt.

Fucking unbelievable, what next can't wear crosses on Yom Kippur, no White Zombie sshirts on Good Friday, no PETA shirts on Thanksgiving........no any shirt except plain gray cause a white shirt offends blacks, and brown shirt offends whites.....Nice gray overalls for everyone just like in 1984 or Brave New World.....

I can understand why they should have been sent home. Everyday is "America" day for us, but immigrants rarely have their own day to celebrate. Why hijack "their day" with a t-shirt that might offend them. Immigrants get offended enough by things they are subjected to everyday, from low wages to racist legislation in a state that used to be part of their homeland, to climate change being forced on their homeland by rich countries. So, it shouldn't be much to ask that students leave offensive symbols at home on that one day they have to celebrate their heritage in what used to be their land.

So that means they're not entitled to their own holiday? Besides, AZ and CA were both stolen from them thru racist wars.

I get it from schools perspective if its intended to provoke a conflict (which I"m sure it was)...its like wearing all orange on St Patty's day. I get it, but I don't necessarily agree with preventative measures in regards to potential conflict with students...does that mean I can't wear an opposing team's jersey at a school game if I'm a student?

    its a little overkill

They are entitled to their own holiday, in Mexico. This is still the US.

For whatever holiday you choose go to another country that doesn't celebrate it and cause a ruckus when they don't recognize it and see how far it gets you.

As far as Arizona and California go next time they'll fight harder.

So let's just not raise our flag, and our kids can do the Mexican allegiance followed by the Canadian and then on and on ....plus on certain days and weeks they can not get served lunch because it might offend the fasting children and might as well have them all kneel on the floor and bow to Mecca at all the right times so the Muslim kid's don't get offended.... Why stop their on 4/20 you better fucking let those little buggers smoke some dank stank right there in the halls and any kid wearing a D.A.R.E shirt should get bludgeoned with rubber mallets on the forehead until he finds out what really makes you brain damaged....

What the fuck is this stupid shit? There hasn't been a war for land in the US in centuries. If you are born here, or you legally immigrated, then you have a right to be here. Everyone is on equal footing, whether you are white, black, Latin, Asian, ect.

As far as the story goes, I have a big ole "why gives a shit!" Jesus, people are too touchy about their little symbols. Let the kids wear their flags. Also, let the kids get their ass's kicked by retards who are just as stupid and small minded as the flag wearing fags. At least that would provided a little entertainment.

    Tough. Fucking. Shit.

Cinco de crapo commemorates Mexico independence from Spain and doesn't count for jack shit. Not only is a holiday from another country, but the very event is pathetic.

Mexico acheived their independence from Spain just 18 years after the US won it's independence from Britain. What's happened to both countries since then? The US has gone on to be the world's only superpower and Mexico's biggest achievement is its exports: people and drugs.

That's like me creating a time of day that I commemorate taking a dump.

What if the kids had worn shirts with the French flag on it?

I'll bet most of the students/administrators/press wouldn't have noticed.

This story probably wouldn't have made the news...or the little French kids would have been beat up by US and Mexican kids. A Coalition of the willing, dammit!

The only reason they're poor is because the USA is hording all of the wealth! Like Obama said the other day "I do believe that at some point, you've made enough money." The US was rich enough a century ago. Now, we're hording so that there's none left for the Mexico and the poor central american countries.

Why? He should thank me for not calling INS.

My great grandparents came here from Finland and France. The learned English, celebrated US holidays, worked like dogs in the iron and copper mines in Michigan's upper peninsula. The ones not mining were logging. They worked hard for what they had. The didn't bitch when a Finnish or French holiday wasn't observed in the US. They were no longer Finns and frogs, they were Americans and celebrated days like the 4th of July. Cinco de Mayo is for Mexico, not the US.

Those countries need to do some legitimate business rather than hope the drug cartels will spread the wealth.

It's not even their day... Mexican's don't celebrate it. Only Americans celebrate it and it's just an excuse to drink
