Just like I read recently, it's easier to create beautiful poetry in a new language because the words are new and you aren't trapped in your speech patterns. Same with singing/rapping you take on a different accent and it's more moldable than your automatic habitual way of speaking, you can reach outside of your comfort zone.....

That's the second HST book I ever read, the first being Songs of the Doomed in 1994, given to me by my High School english teacher who said my writing had a hint of his style. I read the rest of the Gonzo volumes over the next few years and then read my favorite 'Proud Highway:saga of a desperate southern gentleman, 1955-1967' which at the time in 1997 at 20 years old was the perfect book for an aspiring writer like me, it detailed his evolution into a great writer from teen years to early 30's of how he earned his writing chops, I would recommend this book to any aspiring artist, not just writers, it will give great ideas of how to get into the heads of the old masters so you can start to develop a sense of how to create yourself.....Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
