    Next MMA Super star!

My 3yo son!!! I took him to his first trial lesson at "The Pit" North, The mixed martial arts school made famous by chuck liddel and john hackleman. They usually won't start them till there four, but he did so well he is now officially a Pit PeeWee!!. He'll be 4 in OCT.

AT first he was a little over excited and I wasn't sure, but after about 10 minutes he got the hang of following direction. He even got to spar/grapple for the first time. He took a 4yo out twice, HAHA!. First he just charged him and drove him right out of the square. The second time they got into a little grappling session and my boy dropped him, then the other kid rolled on top and mounted him. Then my son rolled otu and they struggled to there feet and struggled with each other for a moment then my son chucked his ass out the ring! YEAH! That's my boy. All the wrestling we do, and with his sister who is 7 and already level five in gymnastics, and is very strong, certainly helped a lot.

Also, out of the 11 kids, all older an bigger mind you, he hung from a pull up bar longer than every one except for one kid. I was so proud. I didn't know the kid he wrestled with father was right behind me. At the end he said my son did a good job, but asked me to tell him not to beat his son up all the time, LOL. I was so proud!

We need to work on his punches though. Little sloppy still. Man, between him and how good my daughter is at gymnastics, I am about as proud as a parent can be And on top of it, my daughter is top of her class in academics, first grade, lol, and very good at math and reading. Of course school comes first. But for being such a shitty kid myself, I don't know what I did to deserve any of this. They are my life!!!! And actually, being on disability from my heart condition has given me so much time with them I actually feel blessed!

Dragon, Congratulations, I know the pride, but let me give you some advice from the father of a wrestler who started at age 11, who was a high school All American, and who wrestled at the United States Air Force Academy. The advice is this: back off. Let your son find his own place without the weight of your expectations. The life of a wrestler is so incredibly intense (and maybe that's true of MMA) the last thing they need is our intrusions. Early on in my son's career, I made a vow to myself that I would never raise my voice during one of his matches, I would never display emotion, and I would never criticize him after a win or loss. That philosophy served us well, and we are still best friends. I saw so many blue chip wrestlers alienated from his parents because of their well placed but misplaced hopes. I suspect my son feels very lucky, and so do I.

I hear you 100% bro! I don't want too push them at all. All I want to do is provide support. I've seen the parents that push an all it does is mess the kids up or make them want to quit.

I like what my daughters gymnastics coach told me when I asked if I should be doing anything at home with her at all. Training wise. He flat ou t said no. He said when there at the gym, he will teach them gymnastics. At home let them be kids. He said eventually he will get hard enough on them and that's all they will need.

SO that was it. I never tell her to do anything. Unless she asks me to watch, which she always does, I do nothing but offer encouragement but never push. Besides, she walks on her hands or does hand spings going down the hall most of the time anyways. LOL
