    If I was CEO of BP. . . .

I'd tell America to fuck themselves and take my business and oil back to the UK. It would have been taken care of a long time ago if it weren't for Obama bowing to the enviromentalists and all of our retarded regulations. Even Bobby Jindal wanted to immediately build a seawall to keep the oil off of Louisiana coastline, but was told not to and now that's fucked too.

he is doing so without words.

i've watched a few hours of the questioning. It's a joke. It's obvious he could care less about what america thinks. I think BP is doing everything possible to make things right. Accidents happen

I don't know, this country is so fucking retarded. We need to fire all of our representatives and wipe out all the laws and regulations down to the Constitution and start over.

If I were in charge I would have sent some torpedoes down that tube set to blast at different depths causing it to be plugged up right away....

Y'know, I thought about this as well. Why don't they just set some charges around the perimeter and blast a mountain of sand over the thing? We're good at blowing stuff up, aren't we?

The explosive idea was shot down (no pun intended) but the USG and BP...it was considered too risky b/c it could actually increase the flow instead of collapsing it.

The BP CEO is a prick...I'm glad the board sent him back to the UK and stay on the DL. I don't know if you guys are fully aware of his comments when this thing started, but the guy is a insensitive prick...and some one who knows very little about PR.

Let BP go back to the UK...they'll disappear and eventually go bankrupt if they lose our market. No one consumes as much gasoline as the US...they can't afford to lose us and BP shareholders (virtually half of the UK pensions...no retirement for them if the BP exits the US) will be screwed.

Obama isn't bowing to the environmentalists...its the worst natural disaster on US soil. What do you expect? When failures of this magnitude happen, we cannot have the perspective of "accidents happen"...especially when so many corners were cut. If the potential "accident" has such a large magnitude of impact, then serious caution must exercised...serious caution was clearly not the name of this game

no matter how many precautions are taken there will always be large scale accidents. More so as technology advances.

Dude, what do you mean this would have been taken care of? No it wouldn't have. Obama nor environmentalist are stopping BP from fixing the leak, time is. The only way this will be fixed is relief wells drilled to take the pressure off so it can be plugged. Environmentalist are the reason shit like this doesn't happen more often. The EPA is the reason our cities aren't polluted like China's cities. Environmental organizations are the reason we have relatively clean places to live, and non toxic food and water. You might want to rethink your opinion there.

The story came out yesterday that one of the well workers pointed out to his supervisor than the blowout preventer was malfunctioning, but operation were never shut down to fix it.

The supervisor shot an email to upper management, and nothing was ever done. Could you fucking imagine what would happen if a coolent regulator at a nuclear power plant was malfunctioning. That reactor unit would have been SHUT THE FUCK OFF!

What is going on down there is a Chernobyl in the ocean.

No accidents of this magnitude don't "just happen". BP should be held accountable. They should pay.

Now, with that being said, I am feel that BP is doing a better job than I expected. The 20 billion dollar claims fund is a nice start. I heard on NPR that the BP board members won't be taking any bonuses or be paid quarterly dividend payments.

That is a good start, and helps to raise my opinion of BP a little. Let's see if they can keep it up.

No way.... sending several dozen down into the pipe and they go off in a chain reaction....that would stop it up good.....

How about get a split collar that can cut threads into the pipe, clamp it on the base....get a few tugs up top and some of that battle ship anchor chain.....have them do donuts and spin some threading onto whats left of the pipe.....then put a hydraulic valve cap in open position...screw it on with the tugs again and hydraulically shut the valve....bam done...

How about Bush turn on his Hurricane Katrina machine and direct his vortex over the spill containing it in one spot while tankers suck up the mess.....

How many countries volunteered their services, twelve? Obama said no. This would be a lot less of a problem than if he said yes.

Volunteered to do what? Get in the way? There isn't anything that could be done. This has never happened before. Nobody knows what to do, and even BP says doing nothing is better than causing more harm.

Blaming Obama for this is like blaming Bush for Katrina. The people who don't like Obama are going to blame him no matter what.

They should put a thick material balloon on a long pole, then slide it part way down the pipe and inflate the balloon. That'll plug it good.

Obama doesn't know how to run shit.

We help out every other fucking country that has a problem, and now they actually offer to help and Obama wont' let them. Guess if he lets other countries help he woudln't get to spend all his time bashing BP instead of working on the economy.

Yeah nothing to the well itself other than the releif wells is the best but that shouldn't stop the skimmers from working on the mess that's already here.

You can't tell me more boats with more skimmers woudln't help keep the oil from getting to the shore as easily.

2010 Deepwater Horizon Transocean Semi-submersible Blowout and fire on the rig, subsea well blowout, killed 11 in explosion.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

What happened to those oil eating microbes? Didn't they use those on the Exxon spill?

And look at the numbers who died in the newest ones 22 and 11, last time that many died was 1964? You'd think at some point people would figure it out....

You know why so many died in those last two, because they are rushing to tap into the sources because we pigs can't get enough of our oil fix....

I wonder if the number of deaths ties into the fact these rigs are soooo much larger now with so many more people on them.

Still even one death is to many.

    Bullshit!

BP had a long history of cutting corners on that well. Using seawater instead of mud, using 6 stabilizers instead of the recommended 21. The concrete was flawed from their cut backs and they purposely didn't install some safety equipment in order to save a few million bucks.

    The precautions weren't taken.
