A 4 star general is really going to badmouth is commander and chief alogn with the vice president in of all things, a "Rolling Stones" interview. This guy is a very smart and accomplished man. He had to have been burned out, and this was his way of going out in a blaze of glory.Barack Obama will confront General Stanley McChrystal at the White House tomorrow as he decides whether to sack the commander of US and Nato forces in Afghanistan over disparaging and "contemptuous" remarks about senior administration officials, including the president himself.
The White House said "all options are on the table" after an "angry" Obama summoned McChrystal to Washington to explain quotes in the latest edition of Rolling Stone magazine in which the general and his senior aides accuse the US ambassador to Kabul of undermining the war, call the president's national security adviser "a joke" and mock Joe Biden, the vice-president. There is also indirect criticism of the president himself as "uncomfortable and intimidated" by senior military officials.
The White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, declined to give assurances about McChrystal's position at a press conference today. He said US efforts in Afghanistan were bigger than one person and McChrystal was not indispensable. Gibbs added: "Without a doubt, General McChrystal has made an enormous mistake." The US defence secretary, Robert Gates, also condemned McChrystal, saying he "made a significant mistake and exercised poor judgment".
The general apologised in person and by phone to some of those criticised and issued a statement admitting "a mistake reflecting poor judgment". "I have enormous respect and admiration for President Obama and his national security team," McChrystal said.
But it is not clear whether that will be enough to save McChrystal's job after what is the latest of a series of political blunders.
A leading Democratic member of Congress, Dave Obey, chairman of the House appropriations committee, called for him to be sacked. But the general had the backing of the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, who said he "strongly supports General McChrystal and his strategy in Afghanistan and believes he is the best commander the United States has sent to Afghanistan over the last nine years".

He could've just been drunk and screwed up...didn't they say he partying with the Stones reporter? either way, a 4star knows better.
The reporter was with the general and his people for a few weeks for the interview. No telling what circumstances were that led to McChrystal saying what he said.

Biden is a jackass. But the general and his staff should have been on point. Can't wait to read this issue. lol

He is a very smart calculated man. This was his way of shoving his foot up Barack Bin Ladens ass.
DRSE: SEEK AND DESTROY
vote that MF'er for President...... he actually has a pair!!!!
McChrystal is no dummy, it will be very interesting to see what is ultimate reason was for this.
No way was it not a calculated move to try to get something to happen, you don't spend your career in special ops and just start blabbing.

If you strike me down(ban me)I'll become more powerful than ever.. Don't say i don't warn you.

I am proud of the General. Finally someone tells it like it is!

These are the same group of guys that would be upset if someone spoke out against Bush. Hypocrites.
Please do not PM me with questions, I will not PM you back.

If you go back a few years worth of post you would hear the Obama bashers saying continuously how all American's should respect the president's role even if you didn't respect the man, and all thta horseshit.
What they forgot to say was this only applies to white republican presidents. If the president is black and democrat, no respect whatsoever is owed to the man or the position.
Yes, big Ol' hypocrites.
Eventually, more people will come over to my side and admit that the "I'll do whatever the fuck I want to do as long as I get away with it policy" is the only policy that makes sense. Respect for a position is dumb, and respect must be earned not awarded.

Bullshit.
There's a huge difference in how Bush and Obama treat the military. It's more than just what you read in the papers.
I have several relatives that are in the military (various branches and roles). They're the ones that I get my information from, not the infotainment crap that so many others do.

Reminds me of the first Captain we had on my ship, he was the rebellious type for the sake of his crews morale. Coming back from a 6 month deployment the command wanted to send us for a 2 week patrol along the Mexico california drug running corridor. Our Captain told the Pacific Command we aren't the DEA and his men needed to get home to their families. Same thing the General is looking out for the wellbeing of his troops, these are my favorite types of leaders always looking out for their followers. he main reason I wanted out was when our spineless Chief wouldn't stand up for our division and our Div-Officer was scared to butt heads with him.....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
