you'd be punishing many for the acts of a few. and the few are not rational or reasonable. they are not going to hold a pow wow and say gee how can we rethink our religion they are going to say how can we get revenge for this act. and the act would add many to their cause.

The Dome of the Rock (aka the al-Aqsa mosque) is considered the 3rd most important holy site for Muslims.

But interestingly, it only became important, in the 1920s, when Israel and Jews starting citing Jerusalem.

These are some pretty good alternatives. I wouldn't let the threat of war be a deterrent for us. It would be more practical to let the threat of nuking mecca be a deterrent for them. If they knew that nuking mecca wasn't off the table, the radicals might very well tone it down so that it never had to happen.

Of course, that will never happen as long as we have these pussies running the show. Obama's already made it clear that under no circumstances would a nuke ever be an option for us. Sure, that'll make anyone think twice before fucking with us.

I can see that working. Destroying their holy sites. If they tried the equivalent with americans, they would need to destroy all strip clubs and that is hard.
