I have been overseas for over 9 years now. There is one job you can do in many parts of the world, if you're interested about it.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
Teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL).
There is high demand in China, Middle East and certain parts of Eastern Europe.
EFL includes TOEFL testing, for foreign students that want to study at Unis in the USA, TOEIC, a test for business English required by many MNCs (Multi-national corporations) IELTS, an internation English test.
Foreign business people do business in English.
For example, A Korean company is doing business with a Japanes, Chinese, German, or Middle Eastern company.
What language will both use? English.
I've taught an Ambassador one-on-one, done visa interview classes, edited and written speeches, and coached business people who need to practice and brush up the their English when they have business meetings.
Add the market for young children, teens, and ESP (English for Specific Purposes) e.g, nursing, engineering, etc, and you'll be in demand in many areas of the world.

Don't look back ~ You're not going that way!
When I was a kid, I wanted to live in America in the future. America was like a dream land. But it lost its cool thing after the 80s or early 90s. I still really like new york and I would move there anyday. But you are right, once you get outside of it, you wont be back to US. I would say with $5.000, you could live a few months there easily.

Rent scuba gear or mopeds to tourists...you get to watch hot chicks all day and lounge in a beach chair when it's slow. Drink beers and smoke weed all day...thats how I survived in Hawaii after I got out of the Navy for 4 years while I went to school. Make extra money by charging them for damage to the equipment by saying they have to replace the whole thing, then you just sand it and spray paint it.....
