Copiapo, Chile (CNN) - The 33 miners trapped inside a Chilean mine since August 5 have been told for the first time that they could be stuck underground for as long as four months (snip)
The men's sole lifeline to the outside world is a tube approximately 8 centimeters (3.2 inches) in diameter, through which food, water, clothing, video and radio equipment and whatever else is needed are stuffed.Health Minister Jaime Manalich told reporters Thursday that, on average, each man has lost 22 pounds (10 kilograms) since they became trapped three weeks ago, and dehydration remains a threat. But a survey of the men indicates that at least nine miners are still too overweight to fit through the proposed rescue shaft, he said.

They need to send those nine miners some fat burners!

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I guarantee it smells like open ass and rancid cheese down in that pit of despair....

that is a great issue, too fat to be in standards for safety WTF!?!
It is with great regret that our current situation is still allowing this turn the other cheek stuff. Christ, come on damn it we're in need of some advice and a WFC, "World Fitness Council"
SICK SICK SICK, all that waste, wholy mackeral!

the miners were at a depth of around 450 meters (yards)...
shelter in the mine with water, food and oxygen and capacity for 35 people.Labor Minister Camila Merino, who went to the scene Friday, said the shelter has provisions for about 72 hours.
The rescue efforts, officials said, are focused on access through vents from the mine, because the collapse blocked the access road.
"There are two entrances to the mine. The ramp is not a possibility, it is completely collapsed. The solution is to go through the ventilation shaft," Merino said.
"We must work very carefully because if we create a new a collapse it will put rescuers at risk and harm the ability to get people out quickly"
they seem ok so far from the video. quite a feat to keep your spirits up at all in their shoes.

Chile enlists NASA, Navy to help miners - The Boston Globe
they have access to over a mile of tunnels so at least they don't need to smell their own shit.
it's not like lassie and they are trapped in a tiny cave that ends where the camera is set up behind them. jeese.

I thought I read that they had been stuck for 5 weeks previous to being found alive.. perhaps I am thinking of a different story. Either way, thats pretty screwed up if they are STILL too overweight to help themselves.
Just a girl.... Looking for muscles!!

^Well, the overweight thing is just a small part of it. They're buried under 2,300 feet of solid rock.

The report says it may be Christmas before they can be rescued.
Buried alive. That could seriously drive someone insane.

Maybe they'll lose the weight by the time they're able to get them out.
Another thought, maybe they'll have to rely on some human canabalism.

ya know what might work. whenever i need to lose 10 lbs i just read big smoothys threads or watch CNN and i can stop crapping for a week![]()
If you strike me down(ban me)I'll become more powerful than ever.. Don't say i don't warn you.

They have until Christmas to make themselves 19" thick. That would suck beyond suck to watch your fellow miners scuttle to safety and fresh air while you're sitting at 22 inches and therefore stuck a half-mile underground.
FOREVER.
I was at sea for 34 days straight. Destroyer's are small ships. Nothing but ocean, but there was fresh air and sunshine, so the miners are looking at a longer stretch of time confined and also buried!
Plus that whole latrine thing is not appealing at all.
Note to self: Avoid big smoothys threads!

I wonder how much they are getting paid in over-time?
I can only imagine the amount of faggotry that's going on down there.

Try almost 60 days patrolling the Persian Gulf while doing 12 hour night shifts, you'd eat breakfast and go straight to bed, I think I saw the sun half a dozen times. We pulled into port for 2 days, but I was on watch both days...I started getting cabin fever, I felt completely cut off from the world. Even though I was in radio and got all the news feeds I still felt like it was all censored DOD news and anything could have been happening back home but they didn't want us to panic... Not to mention it was july-august and the waters were 88 degrees and one of our AC units was busted, we were hot and miserable on limited showers cause of problems with our potable water system. It was living hell, not to mention we only had meat that we got from Australia which everyone claimed was Kangaroo so I gagged every time we had beef for meals.....and on top of that I got a Red Cross message that my uncle had committed suicide and I couldn't go to the funeral because it wasn't immediate family....
