I want this damn hard drive but they don't ship to Canada.

Does anyone know how I could possibly get this hard drive in Canada. Its the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1.5TB model that I want. They don't ship to Canada and the only model I can find for sale out here is the 1TB version. Here's a link to the main website:

Portable hard drive | USB hard Drive | FreeAgent | GoFlex Ultra Portable Drive | Seagate
I love getting high, I hate getting low, and I like to drive my truck down a muddy dirt road.

I'm a great believer in luck and I find that the harder I work, the more I have of it.

Try here. They ship to Canada and usually have great prices.

Yep...NewEgg is very competitive, and they ship pretty quickly. A lot of folks also go through Tigerdirect.com , although I'm not familiar with their shipping policy.

I've tried both newegg and tigerdirect and they only ship the 1TB model. I'm afraid Maniclion has found out another way the USA suppresses other countries.

Ebay has 1 for sale from Australia but it doesn't come with the 3.0USB attachment and that's half the reason I want it.

I have used ZipZoomFly in the past. Give them a shot. Sounds crazy that you cannot get anything over 1TB. Not sure why you need it though.
Please do not PM me with questions, I will not PM you back.

I can't give out any reps to you Maniclion That's the one though, the only thing is it comes with the 2.0USB connection, if ordered from the manufactures website it comes with a 3.0USB. It shouldn't be a big deal though, I can always order that cable separately. Thanks!

It ships from the UK but will it work in Canada? I have no idea if electronics use a different electrical system or something like that between different countries.

Do not buy that drive anywhere other than newegg. You can't beat their shipping times and customer service. They are always competitive on price, also.

With that said, I must ask, what is so special about that drive? Is this for a desktop or a laptop?

I've looked at all of the sites everyone here's mentioned and the only one that has it is the one Maniclion posted. I like it because it uses a 2.5" disk and it can hold 1.5TB and I can upgrade it to 3.0USB. I'm looking for something that can hold a lot of data and is very portable and this one has all of that.

I'd go with the 1tb model. great balance of size and reliability. drives over 1tb have to work alot harder and are less reliable in the long run.

    Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Hard Drives,External Hard Drives,1TB and higher

Follow this link. This is to a page that is displaying abotu 100 drives all 1TB and above. Many are less than $100, and most of them are USB 3.0.

    Newegg.com - Western Digital My Book 3.0 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive WDBAAK0010HCH-NESN

Here is the a link to the drive I would buy. WD has always made dependable drives. I have had well over 10 WD drives in my life, and I never had fail on me. The drive size hardly seems like an issue to me. Historically, 3.5" drives outlive 2.5" drives. Plus, a 3.5" isn't all that much larger then a 2.5".

Not entirely true, if you were buying drives in the mid-late 90s. That said, I still buy WD and have the Black 1.5TB model in my phat desktop, and use the blues in notebooks.

1.5TB is pretty sweet for a 2.5", I have 2x 500MB 2.5s for a media server and I'm fine with those, then again I don't watch a lot of TV

If that is true, that was still over a decade ago. In the last 10 years WD has been one of the most reliable drives on the market, and also one of the most affordable.

A quick search shows they had a recall as late as 2000. I've always liked WD and purchased their goodies, which is why I even know of the situation. I had a 6.4 that died in about 3 days, back when you "had" to use their EZ Bios diskette to even use all of the disc. I still watch the stock and have been since the mid 90s.

Quantum/Maxtor probably had a worse rep back then though, and Seagate of course was known for a long time to run hot.

I'm not saying they are perfect. But, I don't think there is a hard drive manufacturer that hasn't had at least one recall.

Currently the Western Digital Caviar Black like the one you have is rated #1 by storagereview.com. I'm not trying to get into a ford/chevy pissing match. I'm just saying WD has always been extremely affordable and reliable for me. The one time I went with a different brand, it was a seagate, and the POS failed only after 3 months.

Off Topic: Since we are talking about drives, this provides me a chance to brag about my new setup. I have 3 intel x25-Ms in a raid 0 setup. It is fucking nasty boy. I am getting 600Mb/s sequential reads. I aught to post some pictures soon. I spent 3,000 on this computer.

Why do you want that one, that same sight has a 2TB with USB3 for $60 less, it may be slightly fatter but you get 500gb's more and it comes with the cable...and it's 7200 instead of 5400....

No pissing match required, I buy WD LOL just saying, they have had problems, but yeah I still buy from them.

I've been on the fence several times with SSDs, but I know they will keep getting cheaper/better, so, the WD Black is what I'm rollin with for now.
