Can't you make one in a Word or something? Even if you want a simple website basic html is not that hard to learn. Graphics would be the only problem if you don't have a good graphics program.

Have you read any FAQs? You just need an index.htm / html in your home directory. Its really piss simple, you can have one up in a couple hours of reading on your own.

If you buy a Mac, all the software's built-in. You can have a professional-looking homepage up and running in less than hour. Additional pages even easier. I was paying a guy $5k a year to run my site, but dumped him, now doing my own. My iWeb site is cleaner, far more graphic effects, and I can change anything from my iPhone in seconds.

Why would he go buy a Mac just to build a website? If he can post on IM, he already has more than enough hardware to both learn and build websites.

Listen, here is my maid problem with with this website....NO TIME. I work a ton, for example I left my house at 4:45 a.m. and I just got home. I feel like I have no time for anything so I'm looking for the easiest way to do this. I'm trying out intuit, we'll see how that goes.

Well, what is the website even for? Was that even once mentioned in this thread?

If you aren't going to take the time, and it does take time, to learn how then why bother?
Building a successful website isn't like making a myspace page. You need to learn the basics. Do you even know how to upload content? I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm just being honest. Building and maintaining a website is like a second job. To many, it is a full time job with overtime.
I did a google search of "how to build a web site" and the very first link covers the basics. If you don;t know these basics, don;t waste your time.

Even then, you are going to have to practice a lot, experiment, and research. In the geek world, you are being the equivalent of a kid posting on IM about how to get abs and biceps training 1 day a week.

With the Mac, the learning curve is more like a slider. An hour, one-on-one, at a Mac store, the guy can have a pro quality home page up and running. I'm well aware there is an anti-Mac animus -- I used to be one of the minions. Anyone with an open mind, though, owes it to themselves to take a walk on the wild side, and visit an Apple store. What the Jobs people have done is inspired and fun. As mentioned, I was paying a guy $5k a year to design/run mine. I do it myself now and it's fun -- and fast.

Minions? If by minions you mean experienced and educated IT professions who know how to get their money's worth, then yes I am a minion. I don't have the money to be a coffee shop homo fan boy with a flashy product that cost 3-4 times as much for the sake of a logo of some fruit on it. Why would someone spend thousands of dollars to do something that requires a $99 computer? That is like buying a $300 shovel just to dig a hole.

I buy these to replace our computers at work. Add another gig of ram for $20, and you can build web pages for at least 3 or 4 years before upgrading. We are talking about web design here not rocket science or neurosurgery.

When I mentioned animus, I didn't I mention irrational, and angry too boot. I assumed someone would provide an effective illustration. I'm surprised it's you, you're a smart guy. I'm in publishing. Every major magazine uses Macs, don't know of an exception. Pros at the highest level of the music industry use Macs. The reasons, I assume, is that they required, and demand, the very best. Okay, you can't afford a Mac. I get it. But why the anger? That, I don't get it.

Look, I'm serious about this because I find it interesting: Why are people defensive-touchy-angry-passive aggressive about their choice of computers? There is a fervor adjoined more commonly associated with religion and politics. Again, you're obviously a smart guy. Step back, for a moment, and offer your assessment. These are machines, we're discussing, nothing but refined, electronic abacuses. Yet they have won not only our devotion, but our misplaced emotions. I use Macs because they are the standard in the industry in which I work. I'm not an IT professional, like you, so I value the fact that Macs are so user-friendly, and make even creating a professional quality webpage easy. Granted, I wince a little when on a college campus, or at Starbucks, and I see the 2010 variation of near-do-well hipsters fawning over their Macs. And those fucking Mac commercials make me want to punch the skinny, self-important rich punk. On the other hand, I was at the largest music production studio in Havana, recently (government owned, of course) and it was outfitted with Macs. But I feel no emotional investment, and no more sense of loyalty than to Michelin or Goodyear. Again, I don't get it.

You keep saying I am defensive or touchy. Stop being a homo! I am as calm and relaxed as it gets. Trust me, when I am irate, there will be no mistaking it. I am simply doing what I do, and that is calling people on bullshit when I see it.
You don't understand the how and why. You see the end result, but don't understand how got to be that way. Music and Video editors went to Mac about 8 or 9 years ago due to better video editing performance and better editing tools on Macs running a Motorola processor. At that time, Macs were much better for those purposes. All of a sudden, people began to tout the advantages of Macs, and at the time was true. Shortly after, Apple brought Steve Jobs back to reestablish a presence in the computing world. Apple began to make funky new designs like white cubes with cute little monitors and all white gloss finishes.
With the recommendations of video and music producers combined with the revamped interface, and a fierce advertising campaign, Macs began to sell again. Add to that the success of other apple products like ipods and iphones, Macs continued to gain market share. A successful ad campaign made it cool and hip to have a Mac.
Here is the part people don't get. The hardware is damn near identical. Apple uses intel chips now, the same intel chip that you get in your $600 bestbuy computer. It is placed in a cute little Macbook using propriety design to keep users from being able to fix their own equipment. What made them better for music and video editing years ago is no longer true. The exact same software will run on both PC and Mac now. But users have already made the switch and are use to the interface of Mac OS, so they stick to it. Macs are not better for anything anymore.
It is a big steaming pile of horseshit.

I don't get it either, to me it's a Ford v. Chevy issue, I was faxing an order the other day and 3 guys from my company are standing around one guys phone guffawing about something so I go over and see what is so funny, they show me a picture on one guys Android of the little robot peeing on an apple with a bite taken out of it, and their like "That's your iPhone and our Androids are pissing all over it," and I was like "You wouldn't have those phones in your hand if Apple hadn't set the bar a little higher 3 fucking years ago and now others are just catching up. Guffaw all you want but I'm keeping my eye on Apple..."
I'm not an Apple advocate, I own piece-meal PC's, I don't really see an advantage to owning a MAC over a PC except for virus' and I just don't get those on my PC's so it doesn't apply...but you gotta give them their props for the Ipod, Iphone and Ipad...they keep pushing tech to new heights and I like it.....

Zune is still a joke compared to the ipod if you ask me (even though it's a bit off topic). I'd still buy a PC before a mac anyday though. It's a lot cheaper and there really isn't anything you can do on a mac you can't do on a pc.
But were talking a webpage here, so I'll have to agree with Kelju that a pc will work just fine. I mean, what do you need to make a webpage? If you know what you're doing you just need photoshop and notepad. I'd probably make the page for the guy if I had photoshop on this computer.
