Question Are you looking for webspace to host your website?

I am thinking about running a dedicated web server and leasing out some of the space.

Is there anyone here that is looking for a web host to run their website? If so, let me know, cause I would need to get a few committments from people before I move forward.

If I did it, basically I would host your website just like any other web host on the net, no difference. You would have www.yourname.com, a control panel, your own space, etc.

Seems like a great idea for someone with a professional site!

it would depend on how much disk space, bandwidth, etc. that someone would want/need.

did you ever sign-up with VO or anyone else?

if you're talking about hosting your modeling site that would not use a lot of space or bandwidth.

I might be interested. Depending on the $$. Mine would be more of a local thing, not really people from all over the world looking. Let me know when You get some details.

makes no difference though, a website on the net can be viewed by the whole world.

I was making reference that it would be a low bandwith site.

well, I have not thought the details thru yet, as I said it would depend on how much disk space and bandwidth that a site wants/needs.

I was thinking that if I could get a few committments from people to host with me then I would start coming up with the details.

I'm actually looking for one but I'd need ASP.NET + win2k and possibly shared access to a SQL Server (nice but not nec). Low bandwidth, limited space requirements ( ballpark 20 Megs) , and probably 5 email addresses.

I have a feeling you're thinking of a *nix box + PHP + MySQL but feel free set me straight.

When you figure out pricing and stuff I'm definately interested. But without knowing how much you need and stuff I'm kind of in a bind. The support site part that I mentioned I'll know if it will happen by the 20th of Oct.

So if possible let me know bandwidth woudn't be huge, but storage may be since I'd have PDF's and things of the sort.

Also, I will not overload my server with accounts, which is what many web hosts do. That's why you can find other hosts that can offer more space, etc. at lower prices. They cram hundreds of accounts on one server, and ultimately your site will be slow and sometimes even unaccessible due to the overload in recources.

I have gone thru many hosts in the last 2 years because of crappy service and overloaded servers. If you do not want to make that mistake, host with IM!

Another thing to take note of is many hosts only give you low prices if you sign-up for a 6 or 12 month contract. I am going to allow month to month, no obligations, no contracts.

** I will even give you personal tech support if you need it with HTML, PHP, JavaScript, CGI, MySql, Perl, etc.

I think this is just an elaborate scheme to host Leah's website and to get access to all of her "hidden" pictures ..

In the face of this kind of machiavellism, I can only say ..
