Thread: rental car companies

Hertz or Enterprise.

I have used them all, and never saw much of a difference except Avis cars tend to break down more. I go with which company is offering the best car for the best price at that time.

What I would really like is to be able to reserve a specific car, but I don't think that's possible.

This is the first time I have ever had to rent a car.

Most companies allow you to reserve specific cars, or at least a specific make and model.

you can reserve a specifc class but not a specific model.

It's fucking superficial of me but i just prefer to drive a nice car. Maybe because in the real world I drive a not so nice ford exploder, once upon a time it was a ford explorer.

what car do you usually end you usually end up with or what do you think would be a good choice.

buick lacerne , lacrosse, etc........

I have reservations at all the rental places for a premium class car.

That is strange. I am using up the last of my skymiles on a rental car for thanksgiving. I wanted a Maxima, but they didn't have one, so I booked a Camaro. Maybe you have to call the specific branch do book a specific car. Or you calling branch or the national 1-800 numbers?

who did you go through ?

I have called avis, enterprise and alamo and they told me I can only reserve a car in a class but not a specifc model. I called the local birmingham alabama offices. i wanted a maxima to but no one has them....they don't carry them at all. not in bham anyway.

I'm getting in thanksgiving day and I'm afraid they aren't going to have shit after tomorrow.

Kelju has the right criteria for choosing a rental car co.

That really depends, when you reach your destination, are you going to drive more, or are you staying put. my reason for asking is, just in case you do some driving with passengers, you'll want a bigger car with more elbow room.

If you're staying put, just get a smaller car to save you some dough. Unless, you get a free upgrade.

Just my opinion. Have fun on your travels!

It will be just me and sara but we have to do quite a bit of driving. My parents live out in the sticks plus I'm going to visit some friends.

The last time I rented a car went with the Chrysler 300, very roomy with a lot of leg & elbow room and very good power. Fun to drive!

You can reserve a class and not a model, cause it's usually 1st come 1st serve. Unless you rent a Vette or a Benz, cause not very people want to rent those gas guzzlers.

Yeah, normally I wouldn't be concerned but this is the busiest travel days of the year and thanksgiving day i'm afraid they are going to be out of everything. I'm just gonna print out a few reservations. I'm sure things will work out of the best.

I called the local hertz in my city directly. They checked their computer for what they had in their lot. I settled on a Camaro and will pick it up Wednesday morning.
