96 is a pretty long life, much longer then the average. I hope to be as healthy and energetic in my golden years![]()

How does one come to terms with ones mortality? Jack Lalane is dead, 96 is pretty old but I always thought he's at least break a 100.

Like many things in life, you need to put it in perspective. There is a country in Africa where the median life span is 36 years.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.

Thank you for making me see the light. I really missed the point. He was always the same, in a good way. I'm 43 now and as long as I can remember, whenever I'd see him on tv, he was always genuine, positve, and uplifting. I can't recall there ever being anything negative said by the man or about the man.

Last reply was to thank Gena Marie.

Jack lived to be 96 and he died being active and healthy, in other words many of the people that make it that long spend the last years of their life in a nursing home, bed ridden, sick, etc. So you have to also look at quality of life not just how long he lived.

You come to terms with your mortality when you face any fears you may have about dying, and then accepting the fact that life as we know it is temporary. Once you do that, you are finally free to live. I watched a documentary about LaLanne a while back. He was a fat kid with behavioral problems and a bad attitude, and he credited fitness and nutrition with saving his life. Judging from is lifespan, he was more right than he himself knew at the time.
The thing he said that stuck in my memory the most was that he believed that the health of a nation was dependent on the health of the individual citizens. That also seems to have been correct. Doesn't it seem like the US started to lose its dominance once people started turning into fatasses?

I'm 42 and am about sick of this shit, freaking life is so boring and unchallenged...don't know if I can do this for another freaking 40 years!
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
