    Mortality

How does one come to terms with ones mortality? Jack Lalane is dead, 96 is pretty old but I always thought he's at least break a 100.

96 is a pretty long life, much longer then the average. I hope to be as healthy and energetic in my golden years

Like many things in life, you need to put it in perspective. There is a country in Africa where the median life span is 36 years.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Thank you for making me see the light. I really missed the point. He was always the same, in a good way. I'm 43 now and as long as I can remember, whenever I'd see him on tv, he was always genuine, positve, and uplifting. I can't recall there ever being anything negative said by the man or about the man.

I think the world would be a much better place if more of us were like that

Jack lived to be 96 and he died being active and healthy, in other words many of the people that make it that long spend the last years of their life in a nursing home, bed ridden, sick, etc. So you have to also look at quality of life not just how long he lived.

You come to terms with your mortality when you face any fears you may have about dying, and then accepting the fact that life as we know it is temporary. Once you do that, you are finally free to live. I watched a documentary about LaLanne a while back. He was a fat kid with behavioral problems and a bad attitude, and he credited fitness and nutrition with saving his life. Judging from is lifespan, he was more right than he himself knew at the time.

The thing he said that stuck in my memory the most was that he believed that the health of a nation was dependent on the health of the individual citizens. That also seems to have been correct. Doesn't it seem like the US started to lose its dominance once people started turning into fatasses?

I would + rep you on this statement, but I can't at the moment. The obesity in this country is sickening. Lucky for me Colorado is one of the healthiest and active states, yet we still have a lot of over weight and super unhealthy peeps. So sad.

You know who amazes me? Betty White, that broad is a sharp quick wit even today on the SAG Awards at 89 years old...
