Hell, raising the SS retirement age 1 day is breaking a contract I have because I have been paying into that system for 14 years under the premise that I can retire when I'm 65. Honestly, I couldn't give a shit if they raised taxes on the rich 20% to pay for it, how they come up with the money is no concern of mine. I just want them to honor the deal as I have for 14 years.

    Ohh Boo Hoo Hoo!

You might not get your entitlement because the politicians on both side of the aisle have squandered it for decades! Boo Hoo Hoo!

Don't worry about anyone other than yourself because this country is all about you not anyone else.

I got news for you, if you have been paying into SS for 14 years and you haven't been taught or learned on your own already that SS will not exist when you retire, you're gonna have a big fricken surprise if and when you ever get to retire. I sure hope your investing your own money like crazy because as bad as you want your government entitlements they aren't going to exist when you retire.

This problem isn't a problem of the rich "who should be taxed more", this is YOUR problem. It's not MY problem either as I don't care if SS ever pays you a single dollar in your lifetime.

You better get to saving and investing because Obama cares about preserving your entitlements as much as Dubya does.

    It's just wrong.

Want to stop wasting our money, stop the abuse with all of these people suing others for stupid crap.

It's not an entitlement, dumb ass, unless taking my money and investing it and then giving me less than what I could have collected in interest over tast same time period is an entitlement. Actually, that just sounds like a shitty deal. And I'm not for raising taxes on the rich, a flat tax of 15-20% with no loopholes would dramatically raise taxes on the rich, which is why it will never happen.

Furthermore, social security is not broke, it is funded Until 2037. If they don't rob from it that timeline increases.

Finally, of course my primary concern is for myself. I am sure the uber-wealthy's primary concern for getting their tax cuts and shipping jobs overseas is for the good of the country, and not for padding their wallets. How someone who I assume has at least a high school diploma can't see that giving money to people who don't need it and therefore save it rather than pump it back into the economy is far worse for the country than giving a sliver of that money to people who will actually spend it and grow the economy is beyond me. He'll, this entire economic malaise is happening because the people with all of the money are sitting on it because no one is spending money. It is their money, they have the right to do what they want with it. But, and this is coming real soon, once they cut these "entitlements" such as unemployment, the bottom is going to fall out of the market and the real pain begins. It sucks because a lot of people are going to suffer, but this will bring about real change with the way our government is run and that is greatly needed. The best part will be when the stock market crashes, and people like yourself who thought they were doing the right thing by investing in a losing proposition (you are essentially investing in the way our economy is run, which is horribly) lose 50% of their net worth...Again.

BTW, does anyone find it deplorable that all of this "savings" could probably be made up by raising income taxes on everyone by less than 1%? I'd gladly give up 1% of my earnings for their sacrifice.

In fact, the $450 million Boner fought so hard to spend on that 2nd fighter engine we don't need because it was being built in Ohio secures 10% of it.

that's only part of the problem...still nothing has been done about the legislation that allowed certain Wall Street banks to become to big to fail. 2x now in the past 104 years has the US tax payer "bailed" out Wall Street, not quite sure exactly what flavor of "capitalism" this is...

the Glass-Steagall and the Commodities Futures Modernization Act need to be re-instated and those banks need to be broken up. until this is done all the little changes and minute billion dollar Federal budget cuts are nothing except more smoke and mirrors

Sure, it sounds great in theory that 6.x% of your income is stolen every paycheck in the name of SS (not to mention your employer matches that amount) and you think it's going to be there when you retire but unless you are retiring soon you're going to find yourself shit out of luck.

    To each his own.

If you think your SS entitlement is going to be around and amount to anything useful when you retire, so be it. I sure as hell couldn't sleep at night banking my retirement on the money the govt is taking out of my paycheck.

Also, lets pretend SS is really funded to 2037, then what? Do you have any clue how many Boomers are going to retire in the next 20 years? In the 50's 16 people paid in for every 1 that took out. Now that number is 2 to 1. Whites, particularity educated whites, are either not having kids or are having 1 kid. Where's the SS money gonna come from? Oh that's right, the crooked politicians want to legalize 30 million border jumpers. Good luck with that.

I know it's not going to be around, that's the point. The problem isn't the rich or the poor, it's that politicians vote based on what's in their best interest, not that of their constituents. Illegal immigration is a red herring, the total annual cost of illegal immigrants to this country is probably less than what is wasted on a daily basis by our government. Now, $800 billion bailout and a total of $1.2 trillion on the war on terror...those are some cuts that could make headway. Those are not partisan issues, the GOP and Dems hold equal accountability on both.
