"You wouldn't stop on the side of road and let your dog out to eat the roadkill so why would you put Pedigree in their dish?"

I buy Honest Kitchen for my pups. More expensive but they never get sick or have any problems so I think I save money overall getting top quality food and save on vet visits.

I had 4 dogs up until last year, 2 pitts, a shih-tzu and a chiwawa, i tired almost every brand and best results i got(fur quality, muscle mass, poop amount)was from home made food, i was using cooked ground beef or chicken with rice, carrots and couple of supplements as multy vitamin, vitamin e and brewers yiest mix, i used to put them all in blender with some water and mix it all up, put them in bags and freeze them it was just a bit more expensive but i knew they were getting enough nutrition and real meat and not just fillers, i can tell you this for sure the amount of difference my pitts pooped with regular dog food and home made was just crazy...

i'm going to start Cabal on Blue Seal's By Nature and see how he likes it while i learn to make homemade meals for him. Jodi, i agree you save money overall because my parents have fed crap dog food to their dogs over the years and they have many issues and always end up with some type of cancer.

Mine get natures select, I have 8 dogs, it's expensive but they are worth it....

I also make up some ground turkey and brown rice(or semi-mashed sweet taters) with carrots and peas. When ever I cook up a skillet full of Jenny-O for myself, I then cook some up for them....it comes in 2 packs so one is for my next couple days meals and one for them....... When a bake up some breasts some are for them, I mince them up and then mix it in oatmeal then make a huge pot with their dried food in it....

For treats they get carrots or grapes, sometimes sliced apples....shit they'll eat broccoli, bananas, sweet potatoes......I buy 6 bundles of carrots a week much cheaper than milkbones, they get excited when they hear me snap one in half....they love celery if I smear peanut butter in it, a couple of them just lick the peanut butter out but one of the others will eat the celery once it's abandoned.....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

you may want to rethink the grapes

Grape and raisin toxicity in dogs - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The consumption of grapes and raisins presents a potential health threat to dogs. Their toxicity to dogs can cause the animal to develop acute renal failure (the sudden development of kidney failure) with anuria (a lack of urine production). The phenomenon was first identified by the Animal Poison Control Center (APCC), run by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). A trend was seen as far back as 1999. Approximately 140 cases were seen by the APCC in the one year from April 2003 to April 2004, with 50 developing symptoms and seven dying.

Wow thanks good to know, I never noticed any problem, maybe because they only get one or 2 each very rarely because I'll eat the whole bowl and realize I didn't share with them cause I love grapes.....

I do know they can't eat onion, chocolate, tomato and my vet told me to not give them nuts, peanuts are ok because they are legumes.....

yea the toxicity amount is quite a lot but i saw something saying newer findings have shown as few as 7 grapes can be toxic.

I'm not sure what the dog here eats. He's technically not mine although I spend a lot of time with him. I don't buy the food though. I gave him a few pieces of chicken earlier, and I usually give him a couple of small pieces of meat at dinner time. The other day he stole a pretzel from me and ate it.

Do you fry it, and in what? I cook eggs for myself a lot, but I might make one for the dog next time.

i must say im a bit shocked after seeing that, our meat that comes through is very clean not to mention only cows, and if a cow looks to be bad or has been dead to long its hailed away to another rendering plant, and it the meat looks bad its thrown away maybe i just work at a very clean plant :/ or that plant is horrible

What is the brand of food the plant you work at makes? I don't know what kind of food we get for the dog honestly but I've been feeding him eggs and some other stuff and giving him less dog food.

+1, otherwise youre just feeding your pets canned lips and arseholes.

Leave pet food for the pensioners
