What's up everybody? I was going to see if any of you could help me out with some ideas. I want to get a tattoo in honor of my dad. He is still alive and a part of my life however he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's a few years ago so he is in his declining stages.
A little background on this man.....Grew up in a housing project with only his mother. Started his own paper route when he was 11 years old to help out with paying bills. Put himself through college and graduated with honors. Started his own insurance business and became the most successful insurance agent in town. A few years ago he was inducted into the insurance hall of hame and recieved a great award for it.
From what i have been told from others about my dad he was always a really tough and strong man. He is dealing with this disease now, yet, he is still tough as fucking nails. I told him recently that i hope to one day be HALF the man that he is, and that if I can achieve that, hell im fucking golden.
He was an alcoholic for a while but he beat that. He held AA meetings for other guys and ALWAYS helped people out. He is an honorary member of the Humane Society here in town and me and him recycle cans and make about 6 grand a year off of that for the Humane Society.
As of now, I am thinking of his initials D.A.C. but i cant think of anything else, hell maybe that is enough. Or Maybe some sore of quote about strength or toughness. Anyone that can help out I would surely appreciate it. Thanks
His initials or just simply dad. The best way to honor him is to live your life, and conduct yourself, by his example. I'm sorry you have to deal with the Alzheimer's.
My dad recently passed, and I am leaning towards something denoting his armed service during WWII. Anything that honors him and represents something that he took pride in is a good way to go,IMHO.
Thanks for the replies. Little wing, you are probably right, keeping it simple is probably the way to go. D.A.C. are his initials and i really like that, thinking about possibly putting them on the back of my shoulder. MDR, sorry to hear about your dad man, its GOT to be tough. Good luck in choosing your tattoo brother.
