    Another example lies herein..

DOJ to white male bullying victims: Tough luck

    Kerry Picket
    Published on March 18, 2011

The viral video sensation showing a bullying incident at an Australian school has brought the issue of bullying back into the spotlight. Here in the United States, the Obama administration has made school bullying a federal issue. Last week, President Barack Obama addressed an anti-bullying conference with First Lady Michelle Obama at his side. The administration's anti-bullying campaign has been ongoing since the beginning of Mr. Obama's term. The Department of Justice announced in December 2010 its intention to hold liable school districts that fail to protect students that are bullied.
    DOJ’s website states:
The Civil Rights Division and the entire Justice Department are committed to ending bullying and harassment in schools, and the video highlights the Department’s authority to enforce federal laws that protect students from discrimination and harassment at school because of their race, national origin, disability, religion, and sex, including harassment based on nonconformity with gender stereotypes.

    The statement later says:
The enforcement of the Equal Protection Clause, Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 in school districts is a top priority of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. Additional information is available at the Civil Rights Division’s Educational Opportunities Section website at USDOJ: Civil Rights Division: About the Educational Opportunities Section.
Here is the catch. DOJ will only investigate bullying cases if the victim is considered protected under the 1964 Civil Rights legislation. In essence, only discrimination of the victim’s race, color, religion, or sex will be considered by DOJ. The overweight straight white male who is verbally and/or physically harassed because of his size can consider himself invisible to the Justice Department.

Apparently, the Justice Department is going by George Orwell’s famous Animal Farm ending: “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others.”

“We can only take action where we have legal authority,” wrote DOJ spokeswoman Xochitl Hinojosa in a December 2010 e-mail to The Washington Times Water Cooler. She continues:

“As stated in the website below, we are statutorily authorized to initiate suits under Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Equal Educational Opportunities Act of 1974, and under Title III of the American with Disabilities Act.

The Justice Department’s anti-bullying initiative is tantamount to bringing hate crime legislation to the public school system. Obviously, not only is the heterosexual white male student out of luck but inner city minority students lose out in this deal too.

If a schoolyard bully is a straight black male and his target is another straight black male where does that leave the victim in the eyes of Attorney General Eric Holder? What about two female students of the same sexual orientation and race? Is the victim in the latter situation considered to be less equal in the eyes of Obama’s Justice Department than a minority student who is picked on by a heterosexual white male student with no disabilities?

Unfortunately, the Justice Department is politicizing its priorities yet again. One must wonder why the administration believes it should be micro managing local school districts bullying problems. When the Justice Department is more interested in making ideological statements through seemingly sugar coated campaigns, no one should feel protected.

Sorry fellow white people, you or your kids again do not qualify. While I see this bullying BS way out of control and media bloated, this is another fine example of prefered treatment of minorities... just because 'it's the right thing to do'...right?

You would think this kind of shit is from The Onion in thinking it's so outlandish, but apparently not in this country.

IMO, ultimately the bullying problem in the US comes down to bad parenting and the glorification of violence on tv and in our daily lives (wars constantly going on, etc.).

personally I don't think there is a true bullying problem it's just more apparent thanks to the various forms of media available today.

Something we agree on lam, it doesn't even have to come down to this government meddling in localized issues. It's the latest news fashion hot button trend that the white house has glammed onto to make themselves relevant in an issue. Not busting his chops, but there's other shit that could be worked on other than bullying - and his direction how to deal with the non-issue makes his decisions on dealing with it an actual issue. If that makes sense.

First of all, if a a black kid were to bully a white kid because he is white (much like my situation when I lived in the slums of Houston) then that falls under discrimination of race and color....You know here in Hawaii whites are the minority...

Second it sounds like they are trying to minimize their role in needing to take responsibilty in local school matters by citing laws already in existence....

And had he ignored this a whole other thread would be started about how Obama doesn't care about our children and how he should because the children are our future.....

when looking at the big picture it's rather ridiculous, the POTUS need not be worrying about bullying. even if the problem was so big that it needed to be dealt with at the federal level it would be the problem of the Sec of Edu not the POTUS.

at most it's a parenting, school district and local LE problem.

Oh, the poor guy can't do anything right shtick. Well, can he? Anyone can start a thread about anything, not excluding candy mango-flavored unicorns, if they so choose. If they want to start a thread on Obama 'not caring' about children and how they wanted him to enact federal laws regarding bullying by enforcing ones color or sex above anothers, I would tell them they were wrong and move to mother russia for all I care. This is another example of him using the federal government to overreach into the jurisdiction of local governments. This is essentially adding fuel to the fires. At this point, when you add up all the misfires, maybe the right should stfu and just let him play more BBall and golf instead of screwing more shit up.

But you are wrong, those laws have been in place for a long time, anyone could have been prosecuted under them if the bullying fell under the parameters of those existing laws, it's not like he suddenly enacted new laws. Am I the only one who sees the dates on those, 1964, 1972, 1974.....all they are doing is bringing attention to that fact that the laws have existed...

You and your ilk are just so ready to catch Obama rooting for the black folk...

TV, movies and video games, I cannot believe the level of violence that is "okay" compared to nudity and sex.

I don't agree on blaming the media, it is all about parents...bros how often do you hear a kid from France, Germany, England or japan bringing a gun to school and shooting people up or even hear anything about bullying? Yeah once in a while some shit happens but it is not a regular thing..
They do watch the same shit especially for japan or Korea, they spent 10 times more time playing the most violent games but they don't have a big problem like states...
media might a tiny role in all this problem but the major problem is that there is no family values anymore in states, no more respect for each other...
