Thumbs up Check the Can/label ~ Buy US

Did you all see that Diane Sawyer has a special report coming up this week on this very subject. They removed ALL items from a typical, middleclass family’s home, that were not made in the USA. There was hardly anything left besides the kitchen sink. Literally. During the special they are going to show truckloads of items – USA made – being brought in to replace everything. And will be talking about how to find these items and the difference in price etc.
It was interesting that Diane said that if every American spent just $64 (more than normal) on USA made items this year, it would create something like 200,000 new jobs.
    Made ME think!

    Check the Can

I WAS BUYING FOOD THE OTHER DAY AT WALMART.
ON THE LABEL OF SOME PRODUCTS IT SAID 'FROM CHINA'.

FOR EXAMPLE THE "OUR FAMILY" BRAND OF THE MANDARIN ORANGES SAYS RIGHT ON THE CAN 'FROM CHINA'.

I WAS SHOCKED!! SO FOR A FEW MORE CENTS I BOUGHT THE LIBERTY GOLD BRAND OR THE DOLE SINCE IT'S FROM CALIF.

TAKES FOREVER JUST TO BUY FOOD AND DO LABEL READING ! !

Are we Americans as dumb as we appear --- or --- is it that we just do not think? While the Chinese, knowingly and intentionally, export inferior and even toxic products and dangerous toys and goods to be sold in American markets.

Yet 70% of Americans believe that the trading privileges afforded to the Chinese should be suspended.

Well, duh..why do you need the government to suspend trading privileges?

    SIMPLY DO IT YOURSELF, AMERICA!!

Simply look on the bottom of every product you buy, and if it says 'Made in China' or 'PRC' (and that now includes Hong Kong), simply choose another product, or none at all. You will be amazed at how dependent you are on Chinese products, and you will be equally amazed at what you can do without.

Who needs plastic eggs to celebrate Easter? If you must have eggs, use real ones and benefit some American farmer. Easter is just an example, the point is do not wait for the government to act. Just go ahead and assume control on your own.

THINK ABOUT THIS: If 200 million Americans refuse to buy just $20 each of Chinese goods, that's a billion dollar trade imbalance resolved in our favor...fast!!

The downside? Some American businesses will feel a temporary pinch from having foreign stockpiles of inventory. Wahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

The solution? Let's give them fair warning and send our own message. Most of the people who have been reading about this matter are planning on implementing this on March. 14th and continue it until April. 14th That is only one month of trading losses, but it will hit the Chinese for 1/12th of the total, or 8%, of their American exports. Then they will at least have to ask themselves if the benefits of their arrogance and lawlessness were worth it.

Remember, March. 14th to April. 14th

    START NOW.

Send this to everybody you know. Let's show them that we are Americans and NOBODY can take us for granted.

If we can't live without cheap Chinese goods for one month out of our lives, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET!

    Pass it on, America.

I have been checking for this ever since the pet food recall in 2007. there is also a ton of candy now made in China, the gf brought some home a couple of years ago around Halloween time and it was all made in China, I tossed all of it. seems like a lot of the gummy worm type of products that are simple sugar based.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

American's are so dead set on being consumers they want more and more, so what do they buy, the cheaper products made in China (and elsewhere). Until people focus more on quality than quantity, I don't see this changing. Food items from outside of North America are never my first choice unless it is rice from say India or the middle east (the rare times I ever buy it).

Best part about where I live in TX, so many locally sourced items are available on the grocery shelf and in the produce section. It is exceptionally rare that I buy anything not grown in TX or the surrounding states (though a lot of veggies in winter are from Mexico which I am fine with).

I buy my 50 pound bags of rice from producers in California.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

It is scary when you actually look at what is left that is actually American made. We are 98% dependent on overseas goods now, if you are to look at walmarts itemized goods listings. Christmas time is really nasty for my household. I remember I wanted for nothing when I was a kid - I had all the gi joes, transformers and legos. I kept all the legos and passed them to my kids - prolly worth 30k by todays prices. All my kids are deluged with new shit every year from 2 grandmothers, 1 step-grandmother, 4 sisters, brothers, friends, aunts, uncles... mostly chinese garbage. We don't buy them hardly anything because of it and keep asking family members to tone it down bigtime, but they never do. Some of it is never opened and all of it either finds it's way into the garbage or to the salvation army. What a waste.

Preach on... my brother's house with his two girls is out of hand. What 7 year old needs a party with 30 people in attendance and 50 gifts? Freaking retarded if you ask me. I guess I am the only one who asks for things that I need more than want around the holidays and a few gifts is enough. Kids these days want way too much. My friends and I would make half the toys we played with, build forts, improvise with crap around the house for catcher's gear when we want to play baseball, and I am not that damn old here either! All I needed was some sports equipment, a pocket knife, hatchet and rope to keep me content for days on end. Hell, it could be zero out where I grew up in Chicago and we were out all day in the snow and would have to get yelled at to come in. Until my hands and feet were numb you couldn't get me in front of the Nintendo.

I bought a bunch of fireworks a couple weeks ago. I think they were made in China.

I manufacture about 60 different part numbers and as I've needed to re-order labels, I had them put a US Flag and Made in the USA on every label. It's little more expensive because of the extra colors but worth it IMO.

    Here's a good site: http://www.madeinusa.com/
