That is bad news for everyone. Too bad our troops are involved, I am sure this happens in all wars. War is inevetable in this society. always was always will be.

And people wonder why they don't want our "democracy"

I've never been over there, so I won't judge. I can certainly see where soldiers can be desensitized by the people there wanting them dead and the brass tieing them up with pc'ness and red tape bullshit, as usual.

You ever see Band of Brothers series? I assume most of you have and if you havn't you've lived in a fucking hole - see it now. There is an army captain named Ronald Speirs that was almost legendary in the group for reasons that would get you life in prison today. I say if your going to put our men in piss poor situations, you better give them some slack. Every situation is different, but too much of this shit is happening. Either let the dogs loose, or bring them home, otherwise this shit happens.

I actually know Private Heffron in real life. He still drinks in a bar that I hang in sometimes. Hes like 80 years old and still as nasty as a mo-fo. Him and Wild Bill Guarnere are the ones who told the stories to Tom Hanks. They are both South Philly guys.

i've been out of country and it is scary as shit in the cz. but, considering when you get down to the brass tacks we are there protecting the natural resources of that country and not for "democracy". that being the case civilian casualties should be a minimum. a professional soldier doesn't kill unarmed civilians, that's what your general loser gang member, liquor store robber, psychopath, etc. does.

the US has depleted most of it's natural resources we have no fear of ever being "taken" over or invaded by anyone. we should treat others better

I've never been in the service but I can imagine when your getting shot at all day the line between sane and psychopath is very thin.

What this guy was terrible and I hope he is punished to the fullest extent of military law and code.

but our military has over 1.5M active duty personnel...by law of statistics there are going to be a few wackos from time2time. This type of sick behavior in war isn't new and its not unique to US soldiers. It despicable, but its not a direct result of the "US being effed up".

i dont condone the behavior, but there is a lot of shit behind the scenes that you dont know about. because of loac and the geneva convention, we are held to a higher standard. they could literally kill all your friends, throw their gun on the ground and surrender, and it would be a crime to kill them.
