I went on a Jungle Hike, then me and my friends paid a cab driver a full days earnings for 3 days and had him take us to a few temples, a real Muay Thai school out in the jungle, then we roamed the streets of Phuket and Rawai, went to the mall, every night we got loaded with Singha and pills from the pharmacy, hit up the massage show rooms with the women lined up on bleachers, I chose 2 both times I went, then the last night I hooked up with a girl who almost ran me over on her moped, that night we went to a club after I'd drank some opium infused wine and kept pulling like 6-8 girls to the dance floor with me, they were having too much fun and their boyfriends were mean-mugging me, finally our cabbie decided we should leave before I got them too riled up.....then we went to the live sex club and watched live porno....

Make sure you get a taxi with doors cause the fucker we hired had this golf-cart like van that did 100 mph and he would take the sharp turns on narrow mountain roads at full speed and being tipsy you'd feel like you were gonna go flying to your death 1000+ feet down.....

Not for like a week, but one of those sabaticals where you live in a diff cruddy room every other night and hang out for like 3 or 4 months just learning what its like to not be stuck the beating rat race of America.

I lived in Thailand, and have been there on holiday about 10 times.

I just went there 4 weeks ago.

You can research on the internet quite well.

If you're looking for beach, sun, water, sand, and nightlife, Phuket has everything you need.

For a mellow time but still with Beach, sand, sun and ladies (but less full on) you can try Ko Samet, Ko Samui, and/or Ko Chang.

But Phuket has everything in the same location.

You can fly straight to Phuket from Bankok after you arrive. You don't need a visa (if you're an American passport holder), you get 30 days immediately upon arrival.

There are lots of laws in Thailand, just like anywhere.

One in particular is Lesse Majesty.

    It's not a joke.

Fuck Thailands laws and their Royal Family too, I saw little girls in princess dresses pretending to sell flowers, but the girl I met told me they were available for sex to the dirty old men...

If caught, it's a lengthy prison sentence, and the average life expectancy in a Thai prison is 11 years - and this includes foreigners.

Westerners (foreigners) can die in prison over the years because they don't eat the cockroaches which has protein.

The crimes you are mentioning are rare in Thailand. Do they exist? Sadly, yes.

But as the same int he USA, you won't see it.

Don't assume Thailand is about such things if you've never been there, lived there, nor learned about its culture.

In general, it's a conservative society in many respects.

^ Thailand can be a fantasy...that is good....and that is fine.....

There is nothing to line up.

Americans (I'm a natural born American) are very repressed people.

I am sure he will enjoy his short and brief trip.

I've lived in many parts of Thailand too Big Smoothy and I'm not American (the moment they hear an American accent you can expect the bartering price to double).

Like you have said, Thailand's strict with their drug laws. Things are easy to get but if you are caught you face some serious hard time. That is why I like the surrounding countries as they are not too concerned about drug use. Buying off policemen was a common practise for me when I lived in S/E Asia and I never saw any trouble. They need to make a dollar too and I was only to keen to help them.

It's not about an American accent.

It's about being a foreigner. Foreigners are charged more.

My Thai language is passable enough, and (how kind) that I get a discount for speaking Thai.

Please tell more about your time in Thailand if you want.

I've been seriously considering moving back to Bangkok, if certain condition can be lined up. I'm not sure if they can be, though.

Speaking their lingo will get you a discount for sure, and earn respect. I speak enough Indonesian to get me by and apart from making friends from general conversation, it's awesome for shopping due to the auto-discount you receive and for picking up chicks who don't speak english.

I haven't been to Thailand for years now however I've been there many times and had noticed in my most recent time over there that they were making an effort to clean up its reputation quite a lot.

Gears aren't difficult to find, you just need to find the right pharmacy.
