I had it once a long time ago. Snapped out of it by swinging my right arm in the air.

Has anyone ever experienced sleep paralysis? I had it a couple of days ago, but it wasn't the first time. It's really funny and annoying when it happens too. You wake up in your head and your eyes open and you cannot move. I could look around the room by moving my eyes, but that's it. I spent a good ten minutes negotiating with my limbs begging them to wake up too.
For those few minutes you realize how horrible it would be if you were actually paralized.![]()

I get it really bad when I have a fever. Scarey shit if you ask me.
Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder but dont nobody wanna lift this heavy ass weight. R.C.

i have had it but never for ten minutes. it's scary as hell the first time but once you know what it is it's just weird. the first time i was sleeping in a room where someone had been shot n killed so it really freaked me out.
you don't get what you wish for ~ you get what you work for
...

I have it all of the time. The trick is to imagine that you are sucking all of the energy out of the room into your body, and blasting yourself out of the paralysis like a bomb going off.

It happens to me a lot, and all this time I've never known of anyone else who experiences it. Back when I was younger I'd have a nightmare along with it, either seeing or hearing some weird shit. It's kinda hard to explain but now I can feel when its gonna happen by the way I fall asleep. Usually it takes a while, but sometimes I'll get a falling type sensation and I can tell my body is locking up on me so I'll fight and try to roll over, move, or even clear my throat. Just something to keep me from falling completely asleep
Never happened to me. Glad to know about it though Just in case

i get this, it comes and goes, usually a few weeks out of the year, scary as fuck, wake up cant move, panic and cant breath
the most scary shit happens during sleep paralysis for me, because sometimes im dreaming, then wake- not being able to move, and start lucid dreaming sort of while half awake, sometimes i levitate over my body during this, but its a dream of course
right?
lol seems so real i wonder
I have had it happen its very scary
This happened to me this morning! usually only last (I think?) a minute or two.
Usually it makes me a little frantic, but the more i get used to it, the more I just realize i'm not going to die from asphyxiation or anything, so I just let it run it's course.

I suffer from the opposite, I'll wake up my body will function, although I feel off balance, but theirs a layer of my dream state superimposed over the real world...
it's not sleep walking, it usually happens if I wake at the first faint glow of dawn and there's just enough light to not have to turn on a lamp....usually I'll just flow with it, sit on the toilet and trip out for a few minutes, I've gotten some good poetry out of the experiences....
I know what you guys are thinking, but this has happened to me since I was very young so it's not psychoactive chemical flashbacks...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I have had that happen to me at least 5-10 times that i can remember. Shit can be scary sometimes. Ill get it in the middle of a dream too where i realize im def dreaming and cant move and try to wake myself up. Ive see lights too while waking up paralyzed i can see how people think they are abducted by aliens lol.
Scientifically it happens when you are in REM sleep or a deep sleep and you wake suddenly its to avoid your body from acting out a dream and hurting itself.![]()

The neurotransmitter most responsible for this is dopamine, a chemical messenger that my body doesn't regulate very well. I go from one end of the extreme to another. The opposite of sleep paralysis is sleep walking. I do both, on any given night. When I sleep walk, I wake up feeling like dogshit.

No, but I often wake up with morning wood. It's particularly annoying when it's the middle of the night and I have to take a leak.
