"Bankrupt Blockbuster Bought By DISH Network — Look Out, Netflix?"

    Great headline!
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Bankrupt blockbuster? They must have done their patrotic duty and paid their taxes. j/k We know corporations don't pay -insert sarcasm-

I am wondering what dish is thinking on this one. Now that they have 150k dvd's of titanic, wtf are they going to do with it all? Maybe they can pull a rabbit out of their ass, but I don't see it. I wonder how the stock fared after the sale.

Blockbuster got de-listed a while ago. I knew they were going down when I didn't get paid on some server work that I did at a couple of sites about 1.5 years ago. they run VAX/VMS on their server's its like the 1980's.

streaming video is going to be the next big thing on the Internets...this is why there is increased talk now about priority bandwidth, etc.

Right. I work for the midwest region that used to be Verizon recently. In their infinite wisdom, they are MOVING AWAY from video. Just dropping it like a hot potato and pushing... wait for it.... DSL! Ya. Slam dunk. lol. They are spending multi-millions on the infrastructure for subpar archaic crap. In the meantime, verizon wireless will leapfrog all over our territories with their new speeds and plans by the end of the year. I am finishing up my other degree before I get out on the unemployment line. At first my company was trying to be flashy and internally throwing around ipTV, etc. It was all bullshit.

ipTV is still in big use believe it or not, cable company's still haven't run fiber in a lot of rural area's out in the West. depending on what local loop your are in 2-6MBPS on average and 10MBPS if your in a short local loop close to the DFE.

I get a couple of calls every couple of months by the LEC to do iptv installs.

Yeah they won't run fiber to our building. We are on a street where there are only 2 buildings. Not worth the money for them. We are still on a 1.5Mbit T1. lol.

I knew they were in trouble when they closed down 2 stores in my area and all of sudden no longer have new releases available.

Blockbuster is seriously one of the worst run companies I can think of. They were kings of the mountain, and did absolutely nothing to innovate. They watched Netflix & Redbox come in & eat their lunch. They had the name recognition to squash both if they actually took action.
