A little backround... Im 24, i have been training about 8 years. about 3 years ago i got into a bike accident and shaddered my collar bone, broke my humorous, 5 ribs, cracked pelvis and femur, destroyed my ac joint and cracked my scapula.... took about a year and a half of PT and im back in the gym. If i wouldnt have been in good shape prior to the accident i would have been hurt worse. My shoulder still gives me trouble to this day.
SO im at the gym this morning and im doing shoulder press and im on my last set and my shoulder gives out. Well that pissed me off i dropped the dumbells and pretty much threw a hissy fit (its very frustrating for those who dont have issues). I wanna be better but no amount of excersises i do can fix the problems i have with my shoulder, yet i refuse to give up.
So im walking back to the weight rack and this old man, had to be in his 60's, dressed like rocky, and was in very good shape for his age and you could tell he had a history with body building. Well as i sit down on the bench he asks how old i am, blah blah how long ive been training and all. Then is like "remember bud, the weights only get heavier"...
They may seem like a dumb ass obvious statement to most but it kind of put me in my place. I can either deal with pain and move on, or be like everyone else and give up. Needless to say i finished my last set and will not be throwing hissy fits in the gym anymore. Lol
Bash all ya want guys but that older version of rocky opened my eyes to put up or shut up.
