Norton had some good software at one time that was good at undeleting files.

Now what???
Searching for the right balance...
Its an old DOS command and you won't find it with W2K or XP. You'll need to be able to boot to dos with a floppy and use the undelete command. I have to go now but I will check to see if I have a bootable DOS disk and copy the undelete command onto the disk. If you know someone with 95 or 98 you can create one under format disk and copy system files then go to c:\windows\commands and copy the undelete command. I may have one but I don't have the time to check right now. I will get back to you later
Thanks Mochy...I'll be waiting.....with los of anziety too......thx

GetDataBack from Ontrack does a swell job ..
Find it here!
Just did a search and according to this site, if you've done created, deleted files since the deletion, the undelete command will not work
Used to recover files that have been previously erased. The UNDELETE command can only recover deleted files if no new files or changes have been made on the disk since the deletion. Therefore, if you accidentally delete a file that you want to keep, stop what you are doing immediately and use the UNDELETE command to retrieve the file.
Now rollin' with the Raider
I haven't done anything since then...so question is how do I use the undelete command?

Try this for now and see if it works.
Undelete
Can't guarantee anything. Have you rebooted your PC since you deleted the file. If not then don't
definately not...

Try the stuff from Ontrack, really ..
it's not really *legal*, but consider it "needeforonetime-ware"
you can run it from a floppy, if you don't want to overwrite anything.
Trust me, I'm a helpdesk/networking guy (and so's Mochy, you're in good hands!)
"When the going gets though,
the Tough get Duct-tape!"
Did you recover your files yet?

It says there it only undeletes files up to 64K. Sounds like he had way more music than that, and I've never seen a mp3 under about 2 or 3 meg(at 128br)

I was in a rush, I didn't even look at the shareware and just linked it. I know there is a ton of shareware and freeware that may help. I think the undelete in DOS is gonna be too late.

I do not think that the old DOS undelete will work due to different file systems in Win2k and WinXP.

Doesn't matter what OS your are running, if you have a bootable floppy it will still boot to it. Its not even looking at the HDD at this point it is only looking at the floppy. If you have DOS on the floppy your system with boot in DOS mode.
Yup...They are right you DO talk sexy puter!!!

I think, hey its been a while since I worked on desktops. Working with servers you rarely have to use old DOS stuff anymore.
I wish I could make a 32bit boot disk to find out for sure. Im running w2k.
