PHP is similar ASP classic, just more strongly typed and with a lot more functionality. It fully support classes, so you can do OOP using it.

The odd thing about me, is that even though I write in PHP, I like to back-end with MS SQL Server. The interfaces for mySQL and Postgres were always so clunky.
I prefer SQL Server as well, though I've wanted to write something for Cassandra or CouchDB (both are really different from each other, I know) for a while to see how they are.

The funny thing with Javascript is Doug Crockford once compared it to Scheme. I'm terrible at Scheme. I'm good at javascript. Go figure. Probably just because I'm more comfortable with the C like syntax even though it in almost no way behaves like a C language.

Javascript is fun and all, but I still dont understand why i dont grasp the concept of it. I mean the whole DOM environment pisses me off. Ajax is fun, Json is fun but...aah javascript is..easy yet...complicated. Its not even theoritical or mathematical its just...javascript. Its one of those things that sooner or later I'll tell myself how easy this shit is..

Never worked with ASP, but php is awesome. Ive fucked around it with since php 4. Love the fact that they are concentrating more and more on its OOP features. And meeting Rasmus Lerdorf in Waterloo was quite pleasant as well, very intelligent guy. Growing up with C/C++, php was really easy to learn.

DOMS, dont know what your background is, but I personally love Perl. Very fascinating and amusing little language, should play around a little with it. I notice alot of work places that use linux based system also require some knowledge of perl, so I essentially had to learn it.

It's a really interesting language actually. At a glance, it just seems like a language used to do cute visual effects, but it's actually quite powerful. It's actually the first functional language that I'd consider myself adept in (I only occasionally tinker with F#).

To be honest, the popular back-end languages for web development really are more or less the same. As long as you understand design patterns and can pick up slightly different syntax, you can program in basically anything.

Yea. I made a mistake of buying those Head First books of Javascript. I open and read it and its all pictures and comics about javascripts, so basically a book for the retarded. Couldn't learn from shit. Javascript and other languages are best learned with practice.

Just tore it up on the tennis court and in the gym with a chest workout.

Having a great day so far, still isn't over yet though. Some boxing later.

I had a great moment at the gym today. I lost count while squatting.

A lot of people at the gym squat down about 5 or 6 inches--not even to parallel. When I squat, I go down until my hams touch the soleus. So I'm about waist height at the bottom.

This chick gets into the mechanical calf-raise and goes at it. She's the hot kind of chick that looks good in short hair (99% of women can't pull it off). Her body fat is low enough that she has a flat stomach, but not low enough to keep her from having C-size cups. She was also wearing spandex shorts that were about eight inches high.

    Losing count can been rewarding.

Another good start to good day.

A testament to just how powerful javascript is.

    Javascript PC Emulator

Yes, that's right. That's linux running in an x86 emulator written purely in Javascript. I only wish I had that kind of skill.
