    Your domestic airline choice

Which domestic airline do you prefer ?

Do you always go with the cheapest fair or pay extra for a certain airline?

I think I have flown most of the domestic airlines and Southwest is by far the best IMO.

We pay extra to go with Southwest. Just the fact that if there is ever a problem they take care of you without trying to charge you hundreds of dollars.

Yeah, I go SouthWest whenever I have the choice. They have great customer service.

And for all the flying that I've done, they've only been late once. They made my flight wait for another plane coming from back East so that those people could make their connection. We left 45 minutes late, but only arrived 20 minutes late.

They're a great airline. Every other airline has seen sub par.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

southwest owns airtran now. I was happy about the merger, gives a few more destinations to travel to.

You think it will make the service worse ?

Business Class is ultimately going away along with XM. Cattle car seating just doesn't appeal to me.

The pros are AT pilots are going to get a HUGE and well deserved raise, SWA will now have international destinations and SWA now has access to AT's great prices and positions on new 737-800's. The SWA 737-300's and -500's are antiques but something like 80% of them are paid for.

That said, I hope AT/SWA curb stomps Delta in ATL.

I usually fly SWA also, they seem to have the most routes. But I'm not too big on the idea of flying, right now. That damn tsa wants to practically strip search me, just for flying 40 minutes to Oakland! That's total BS, IMO.

Being in GA, SWA was locked out of the country's busiest airport. Basically it was either fly AT on new planes with crews with good attitudes or fly Delta on antique airplanes with pissed off crews and 60yo talking Coke machines.

Short of Aruba, I've had to take DAL one too many times to the Caribbean and since it's international the sky waitresses are always fat, old, miserable and lazy.

Yup! What happened to those days when stewardesses were hot, and lovely to look at. That always made it fun. Shit, when I was in the military and had to fly somewhere, trying to pick up on the Stewardess was 1/2 the fun.

Now, they've got old fatties, or gay guy's trying to pick me up!

Delta's attendants are very rude people. Almost like they train them to be that way.

I actually know many and part of it is DAL took huge pay cuts during their bankruptcy so when you coupled that with furloughs after 9/11, many went from being able to retire in a few years to having to retire in 10 even 15 years. That still doesn't excuse them from being fat, ugly and rude but that's why many haven't been put out to pasture.

Around bankruptcy time, my g/f now wife and I flew on our dime to Grand Cayman when we could have used cheap buddy passes from her dad. The outbound flight was 1/3rd full and the inbound flight was 1/2 full. On the inbound we are getting free drinks via non-dated drink vouchures (which meant they were old). The FA says these are no good because they are old, so I said show me the expiration date then. The bitch made a face then fetched our drinks.

After the 2nd round the bitch FA sees inside my wife's purse and notices she has a stack of them. She immediately and loudly says those are stolen. My wife said my dad works at DAL and got these from his supervisor. The bitch tells my wife he stole them!

My wife, who doesn't lose her cool started to lose her cool, then stopped and looked out the window. I, who can lose my cool and not wanting to be arrested, went into chill out mode. In a nice way I told the cunt her dad just took a 35% pay cut just like you did so instead of flying standby, we decided to pay market rate in order to give something back to DAL considering the situation they are in. She proceeded to say they were stolen. I said fine we'll pay cash while my wife basically said she can shove those drinks up her ass.

I said we no longer want drinks but I want your name so I can email DAL. She gave me her name and left. A few minutes later, after talking to the other Coke machines, she came back with two free drinks.

After that flight we only fly Delta when we have to which is primarily places in the Caribbean like St Lucia and Grand Cayman.

When I fly AT, I fly Business Class only which seems to be where the fags wait tables and I hate to admit this, but they are usually as entertaining as they are fruity.

One week before SWA announced they were buying AT, on 9/11 we were walking off the plane in Aruba. Knowing AT pilots were going through a long bitter contract negotiation, I shook our CA's hand and said good luck with your contract, you guys deserve SWA wages. He loves that but the head sky waitress burst into laughter when I said it.

Fast forward two weeks and the wife and I are getting in the car on a Monday am to head to SFO on AT and the big news on the radio was AT was purchased by SWA. That gave me a laugh until I realized Business Class was going away.

I always have flown Delta (northwest) and Spirit.

I just tend to go with the most direct flight and then look at prices and the baggage fees. With the GF overpacking, we are sure to hit with extra baggage fees.

I really havent had a bad experience with Delta or Spirit.

It's not so much the in flight service but the customer service when you have a change in planes or a flight delay or cancel. One time they tried to charge me $150 because they had delays which was going to cause me to miss my connection; I wanted to switch to another delta flight which was literally 10% full.

Another time sara was flying to see me before I moved. There was an ice storm in NC so her connecting flight wasn't going to arrive. Well there was another delta flight leaving to go to ATL, sara walked over to the boarding attendant and asked to be put on a waiting list. The lady told her she had to stand right there in line waiting even though the flight was not leaving, she had to use the bathroom. When she came back the lady had taken her off the list out of spite. They were not gonna get her a room if she had to stay or another flight out for 36hrs.

With Southwest you do not have any of these problems. I really don't see how delta stays in business with domestic routes.

I missed a flight with Delta last year. I got to watch it depart with out me. My bad, either the departure time changed or I got it wrong. Either way, I should of checked the flight time the day before. They put me on a connecting flight for a $50 charge. Wasnt bad as I had a wedding to go to, so it worked out.

It just sounds like the lady was just a fkn bitch.... I would of called customer service or corporate or wrote a professional letter describing the events and then see if they would attempt to make it right. I would been tempted to act like an ass in that situation.

American Airlines due to my frequent flyer miles through work though, so it doesn't really count.

If I wasn't racking up the miles, I'd go with the cheapest. If price wasn't an issue and I had to fly coach, I'd pick southwest or frontier depending on where I was flying. American Airlines would likely be my LAST choice if actually had to pay for the flight and fly coach.

If I have the option to fly a non american (domestic) carrier, I'll take foreign almost always...unless its an Air Kenya type country. Almost every int'l carrier from Asia, the Middle East, and Europe are hand over fist better than US carriers.
