Thread: Was it right to Invite this Rapper

Actually he doesn't say that if you read the last line of that poem (you know the one they left off on Fox news) he says essentially lets help each other out and stop violence. But at the same time Bush praised a man who claimed "I once shot a man in Reno just to watch him die" and who sung a song about shooting cocaine (Johnny Cash). But the fact is I laughed when I saw Fox news saying happy bday to Ice-T a man who really did write a song about cop killing. Oh and Fox news online called him a brilliant rapper a bit ago and a model to the kids, funny how that changed when Obama invited him to the White House.

Ohh ohh I got another one how about things line "Don't retreat reload" and putting cross hairs on your opponents. No one would ever say that, would they? Or Fox news who has Ted Nugent on who has said Obama needs to sit on his machine gun, so lets not get it all confused.

I actually don't care who he invites to the White House. It's his freaking house

There are a myriad of other issues to bitch about - but it was reported the police were pissed about the invite and sent through the newswires, not conservatives trying to get another angle on him. Since this is negative on Obama, the automatic reaction is that the conservatives are picking on him again.

He was a lame ghetto thug shock value rapper, who sold out to go do movies about being a ghetto thug dealer/murderer who later switched sides to being the cop killing the ghetto thug/murderer who later became respected member of a legal team in law and order who later became guest at lame white people celebrity roast on comedy central.

just to name a few things: to date there have been zero jobs bills submitted by the House and/or Speaker, attempting to kill medicare and those votes are on record and now they have continued subsidy to big oil while they rake in record profits and the fake state budget dilemma created to kill collective bargaining rights.

the left doesn't have much but more than the right, the only candidate that hasn't said or done something stupid in the recent past or doesn't have any skeletons that we now of is Mitch Daniels, the rest might as well go home.

He is a poet and a hip hop artist, a lot of poets out there have touchy poems, poetry is what you are feeling at a moment, a fragment in time. Obama and his wife are "give a person a second chance, you know Kumar(Kalpen Modi) from the weed and White Castle burgers movies...one of which(the Christmas one or number 3) he made after Obama offered him the Public Liaison position....

Common isn't your typical thug rapper, he tries his hardest to steer it out of the ghetto gangsta mentality, he tries to instill some awakening in his work. The thing is he has to teeter on that line of grittiness to keep the conduit open to lead the misdirected youth out of the gangsta rap mentality. If he just rapped goody goody he would be shunned by the ears of those he wants to lead out.

Also the Obama's and he are fellow Church members, they both went to the same Church so there is a friendship and I am sure they know more about the real Common than any of us who have never met him.....

I met him on the beach in Waikiki, drank some Maitais with him, he's a smart cat. He played the rap game and got fame and money, can't hate him for banking on shock value, a lot of artists in this age do it's the only thing that grabs people anymore. Meeting him you'd understand he's just an entertainer with sense enough to do what he needs to do to make it in a cut-throat biz....he got out at the right time too before it really turned cut-throat..

Dude it's a rapper... who cares if he goes to this party. Writing something in a song doesn't mean you do it or even approve of it. He's just trying to make money... I would say I shoot cops for a big check. It's not like common is going to shoot a cop at this party so who cares.

We shouldn't be surprised. Obama sat in Rev. Wright's church for 20 years, listening to his "God Dam America" speeches, subjecting his own daughters to such hate speech, and he was given a pass on that. He was basically a rorschach test for the left. He was was given a pass on so many issues because the left wanted him to be everything they hoped he would be. The question is why wouldn't this rapper be invited to the White House? No one should be surprised. After all, Michelle was never proud of her country until her husband won a few primaries. She's the one who invited this "artist" to the WH. So, no need to act surprised.

Also, people on the left keep saying that issues like this are irrelevant. At what point, does blatant hostility toward this country become relevant? Apparently "God Damn America" was irrelevant. Inviting a rapper who writes "songs" praising killing cops is irrelevant. At what point does the president of the USA endorsing this garbage become relevant?
