What is the one word???
BODYBUILDING SUPPLEMENTS High Quality Supplements For Bodybuilders and Athletes. www.ironmaglabs.com Here is a question for ya all.
There is only one word in the English Dictionary that when it is capitalized it takes on a totally different meaning and pronounced differently and yet spelled exactly the same. What is that one word. If you find the question confusing I'll try to give you an example although it will be incorrect since there is only 1 of these such words. Lets say the word is filler (pronounced exactly as you see it) and means: additive if capitalized (Filler) it is prounounce Falar and means a type of pipe Now remember this is just a made up example but there is such a word. What is it? If you don't guess it I'll give the answer next sunday. Make ya wait a while. hahaha |

Today we are looking for capitonyms:
Example: polish : to rub to a shine Polish : of Polish origin reading : reading a book Reading : town in the UK These are mostly related to geographic names. Now go out and find some non-geographic examples ![]() |

OMG I splittered when I saw the replies. Now see if splittered in in the dictionary! Oh, got some on the 'puter screen too.
There are so many words that sound the same in English, but mean different things. Sometimes they're spelled differently too, but what firestorm is asking for, so far the polish and Polish thing sound the best. |

Polish and polish is CORRECT. Preacher wins this one. That was a hard one too!! Damn, didn't expect anyone to get it.
reading and Reading doesn't count cause cities are not in the dictionary. We have a Reading in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Since they are towns or cities they are not in the dictionary as such. Polish is in the dictionary. |
