I've been growing kefir for years. It is amazing stuff, really. The strain I use has 48 different types of good bacteria. Great immune support and gut support.
wow. it does not taste or smell bad at all. it's like milk with a tangy cream cheese or sour cream smell and taste so hmmm maybe my whey will taste like strawberry cheesecake and be mucho healthy.
perfectcircle. if you look for a local source you can get fresh grains not dehydrated. mine got here fast because i ordered from Massachusetts to Maine.

i let some sit 26 hours. it just does its thing in a jar in a cupboard and it does not at all have even the slightest taste like milk that's gone bad. i drank some and refrigerated the rest. it thickens up some when cold and tastes exactly like mild sour cream. it's very good.
It is pretty tasty stuff. They had it all over in Thailand when I lived there. My kids loved it. I am so lactose intolerant though it just sounds like slow painful death to me.
