While we've already heard the news that the veteran actor was in talks to join the cast alongside Green Lantern star, Ryan Reynolds, it is now being reported that he has definitely signed on...
As you may already know, R.I.P.D. is based on the Dark Horse Entertainment comic book series. The movie adaptation will see character Nick Cruz, played by Ryan Reynolds, as a recently killed police officer who joins the force in order to try and find his own murderer. Robert Schwentke has signed up to direct, and Bridges will play Roy, a veteran member of the force.
Jeff Bridges has been cast alongside Ryan Reynolds in Universal's "R.I.P.D.," TheWrap has learned.
The Academy Award winner had been in negotiations to play a role that Zach Galifianakis that once been under consideration to play. Bridges will play a police officer in the Rest In Peace Department.
R.I.P.D. is set to be released sometime during 2012, although it's believed that could change depending on whether Reynolds is required to film a Green Lantern sequel.

What, they only have three actors in Hollywood who can play superheroes or comic book characters on the big screen?
Captain America and the Human Torch both played by Chris Evans.
Dead Pool, GL, and now this character by Ryan Reynolds.
Even Bridges was in Iron Man.
smh
Love to see great adventures on the big screen, but I find it difficult to believe that just a handful of actors can fill the cartoon characters' shoes (or boots).

Up-and-coming actress Stephanie Szostak in negotiations to play the female lead opposite Ryan Reynolds in Universal’s supernatural action movie RIPD based on the Dark Horse comic.
Szostak will play Reynolds’ wife who can sense that he is still around and to whom he is trying to communicate with in regards to his murder.
Szostak most recently appeared in Dinner For Schmucks and has also appeared in various tv series such as Law And Order and The Sopranos. R.I.P.D will also star RyanReynolds
and Jeff Bridges as members of the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world.

Now according to Bloody-Disgusting (who are reporting this as a rumor themselves) have learned of Universal studios potential interest in Jodie Foster for the role of "Proctor":
It's a start with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges starring, and Bloody learned EXCLUSIVELY that the studio is highly interested in landing Jodie Foster as "Proctor". Given that she's already committed to District 9 director Neill Blomkam's Elysium, it'll be interesting to see if she ends up playing with the undead.

Variety is reporting that Mary-Louise Parker - best known for her roles in last year's RED and the TV series Weeds - is in negotiations to join the cast of Universal's upcoming adaptation of the Dark Horse comic series R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department). Parker will play the woman who explains to Nick Walker (Ryan Reynolds) what happened when he died. Apparently, Jodie Foster (who was previously rumored for a role in the movie) was interested in this role, but she eventually passed.

The stunning model who has appeared in quite a few TV shows will make her big screen debut joining RyanReynolds in the supernatural adventure flick..
According to THR, Victoria's Secret and Sports Illustrated model Marisa Miller will join Ryan Reynolds and JeffBridges in Universal's adaptation of the Dark Horse comicbook R.I.P.D.
No word on which role she will be playing but my money is on, ehh, someone hot anyway. TV fans will no doubt recognize Miller from the likes of Entourage, Gary Unmarried, and How I Met Your Mother. She makes her movie debut in Robert Schwentke's CBM, which follows a murdered cop (Reynolds) who is recruited to work in the Rest in Peace Department, a police force comprised of ghosts who battle spirits unready to depart this world.
Update: via FSR Apparently Miller will play the "body that Bridges’s character chooses to manifest his ghostly self as when walking amongst the living".
R.I.P.D also stars Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, and Stephanie Szostak.

Marisa Miller may be making her film debut in Ryan Reynold's supernatural cop movie, but it isn't her acting debut. Kelly Slater: You’re shooting a movie called R.I.P.D., with Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Bacon, and Jeff Bridges. What’s that about?
Marisa Miller: Yeah, I’m super pumped. They’re all cops in the underworld, and they’re dead. When they have to go to Earth, I play Jeff’s avatar. So it was kind of a crazy experience, because I had to have his inflections, the way he talked and everything.
Kelly Slater: Cool. You should get [Bridges] out on the water! He likes to surf.
Marisa Miller: Yeah, that’s awesome. It gives us something to talk about.
