"It's not quite free. The expected parental and student contribution (expected family contribution) helps determine the amount of need when determining financial aid awards. Making the expected parental contribution $0 makes the student eligible for more financial aid. There is a link to a fact sheet on your link. It shows parental contribution of $0, but an expected student contribution of $1850. It then shows "self help" of work study or loan in the amount of $3500 (this is the max per year). Everything beyond that is paid by Harvard.
Not free, but a very good deal. Makes Harvard as affordable (or more?)as a public college."
