Goddamn it!
Allright, I got one, I'm shoving down Lysine pills, anything else I can do to get rid of the damn thing fast?

I hate those!!! I don't think anything will make them heal faster. You just have to let them run their 7 to 10 days. Have you ever used Kanka or Ambesol? It's stuff you put over it that numbs it up pretty good. Doesn't help it heal, but keeps the pain minimal.

Bummer! I once got hit in the mouth with a puck the day before a first date. I went on the date with a swollen, cut up lip. Looked really nasty! I still have a scar on the inside of lip from that shot.

However, I use Carmex and it seems to go away cleanly. The Abreva dried so quickly and accelerated that it ended up looking worse. But that is just my personal experiences. Now, GET RID of that ugly thing! ![]() |

Un-fucking-real
"Excuse me miss, can you tell me where you keep 'Abreva'?" "Oh, I'm sorry. I don't think we carry that in Canada yet." WTF is with that??!! I'm trying something else, I wonder if any of you can give me advice on this. I have a cortisteroid (sp?) that got rid of a rash on my neck. It healed the damn thing up in a night. My buddy tried it on his shaving rash and it got rid of that too. What do ya think? Would it work on this crap? ![]()

Please don't tell us if you've got any of those type-2 sores
![]() Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV). There are two types of herpes simplex virus (HSV). HSV-1 usually leads to oral sores (herpes labialis), while HSV-2 most often leads to genital herpes. However, there is a link between the two types, as HSV-1 can result in genital sores and HSV-2 can result in cold sores if you come into contact with either virus.

Nope, this is the simple one, I've been getting them since I was a kid. Well last night was a REAL big piss me off. I gave my girlfriend a hot oil massage, candle light, red wine.......and that was as it! FUCK I HATE THIS THING!!!!! ![]() So I took some drastic measures. I took a really sharp knife, heated the damn thing over a flame till it was scorching, and started scraping the sore......man that brought tears to my eyes, then I used polysporin and covered it with a bandaid. Looks a lot better today.

Can't say I blame her for not wanting to get busy. The one time fade had one I wouldn't even kiss him till it was completely gone!!!
I've never had one... and will do what's necessary to keep from getting that virus!!!

I know, actually I don't want her to kiss me untill it's gone. It would just keep going back and forth if she did, and I just want it gone. WHY WON'T YOU GO AWAY?!

Don't think so. All it did was mess up the sore and it looks better today. Besides I had a scar where a cold sore was once before, after I got the next sore the scar went away.![]()

It may look better IT but I can't see how what you did had any real effect other than to make you feel better.
It's a VIRUS. Not a bacterial infection. You have to let it run it's course.

I find "Zovirax" works well on coldsores. It's just a white cream you put onto the coldsore which heals the sore and leaves a small mark which disappears after a few days. Dunno if it's available where you all live, though...

There is a prescription medication, it's oral. $40 per bottle!
![]() We took our son to the dermatologist becuase for some reason he gets bad outbreaks every once in awhile. She said that the topical medications are worthless, and she Rx'd this oral one. BOARD SPONSORS: ![]()

Well not sure what is working but something sure is. You can barely even tell that I have one now and it has only been a coupe of days.
Don't think I wanna try the hot knife method anymore , that hurts![]()

Yo IT, I feel for you bro, I get cold sores like a mutha too. Abreva does work, but its like $15 for this tiny little one inch long tube, kinda disgusting. Its best if you start applying it before it breaks through, you know, when you just begin to see the red. It wont break through then generally with me. So thats what I do, and it works.
I've gotten them since I was like 2 years old I think (checked the baby book). Some nasty old ho just had to kiss the baby and I've been dealing with that crap ever since. Some people got them mild, but I'd get them for over a month at time... so had to get serious about them. Anyways, I hope you can get your hands on some Abreva or other form of meds... cold sores suck. |
