When I asked my High School kids to read Shakespeare at home, you would've thought I was asking them to kill their parents. My first principal called me into my office about my standards being too high and told me I should think about teaching at the college level, and that my curriculum was too difficult. I was just asking kids to read something other than Twilight. After a decade, I'm getting out. Education is broken in this country, and it will never be fixed. More than that. The government has the power to fix it, but it prefers the masses to be ignorant. Not only was Carlin right, so was Orwell.
the people that speak up against the status quo are always labeled as trouble makers, crazy, etc. televised media in the US is so harmful in many ways to the youth. forget about the inaccurate information regarding economics, the world, etc. and just focus on commercials for children.

according to Neilsen the #1 ranked type of commercials are fast food for children. there are studies showing that children with diets of highly processed foods at the age of 3 see a marked decline in the IQ by age 8. even with changes in the diet this is not reversed, while children with healthy diets see an improvement in the IQ.

when you add all these things together such as low/stagnant wages which are a major factor in scholastic achievement in OECD countries, outdated and ineffective public school systems, unhealthy diets that are proven to lower the IQ it's no surprise the US is steadily falling behind. We rank just about the bottom in every category in OECD countries in terms of education, literacy, etc.

Plenty of work out there for a nationally certified Therapist, and after a few years I'll be able to hang out my own shingle and work for myself. I've learned over the years that I'm just not too adept at being an employee. Also considering doing some writing and possibly working in research a bit.
I just Graduated collage with strait A's and can't get a job because of my back round , some of the shit I did some I did not. anyway it says shit like poses-ion of a deadly weapon during the commission the commission of a felony, i got charged with this never convicted of it and it still shows up on my record!! I never got caught with a weapon but when people see that it looks like I stuck a gun to someones head and said give me all your money. Now this never happened it was said I had a knife during a fight. See in the state I live in I can call the cops on anyone and say anything and they will lock you up with no proof and you have to beat it at trial thats fucking crazy I have many charges from when i was young but i'm going to be 29 have not been in trouble since 2006, i went jail for a violation for a beer in my dads fridge and he said it was his, they breathalyser me and I blew no #'s either the judge threw it out my PO didn't even show up to court and VOP prison is worse then reg prison in my state but i had a lawyer and got out that day and no more house arrest but i sat in jail for 2 weeks and if I didn't have a lawyer i would have sat longer for a beer that was not mine. The system is so fucked up I'm in the process off getting shit expunged off of my record now so i can get a job my lawyer tells me to wait for the pardon for 3 years that jew cocksucker i need to work i have 2 kids and a beautiful fiancée I'm getting married in November. MY point being I changed my life around i hang out with anyone no more my my girl and kids i go to school and the gym and that's it. Now for people who really do change, or got caught up in some bad shit wrong place wrong time, it's horrible to get out of the system to get decent jobs and it's totally not fair they want people to change but then when some of them are so institutionalized they don't know what to do i was with a guy ready to get out after doing 20 years in prison and was scared to leave no lie thats fucked up but he had nothing on the out side no family left nowhere to go so he said he didn't care if he came back that's fucking crazy but a true story he didn't know how to live his wash was done for him food cook for him told what to do when to do it for 20 yrs now free with no one to tell him what to do so he doesn't know how to live on the streets shit's different from the 80's he's gonna be in for a big surprise whenever he hit's the streets woowwee I feel bad for him

inflation over the past 10 years is 30%, how many people do you think have had wage increases that have total such? but the cost of goods and services continually increase, profits have to be made, etc. this would be a "minor" fundamental flaw in us business practice. tax rates have been lowered to near record levels for personal income and corporations, so you have reduced tax receipts coming in, increasing expenditures with dollar that is steadily losing buying power thanks to the FRB.

but when you read any of the reports from the FRB there is a complete lack of interest, policy or concern regarding this. decreasing unemployment, controlling inflation are mentioned a little. everything thing is about big business, bonds rates, etc. out of this most recent 61 page report there are several sentences that make reference to the above issues.

I blame our Government for so much shit that why we have ss# and credit cards and all that shit so thry can keep an eye on what were doing from day one it's sick if you look into it all the leaders of the world meet up once a year some where we are already controlled buy one world government its crazy i know people might not believe me but its very true

All this shit with the unemployment they are making so much money off this the right people are if you know what your doing in the stock market it's so fucked up i could go on for days

Decriminalize most, if not all, drugs and watch the world turn into a better place. There will always be users and abusers, regardless of whether or not it's legal, and you simply can't do anything about it. Some people simply do stuff BECAUSE it's illegal. Especially with a victimless crime like getting high.
See i agree too. Look at Holland Amsterdam there crime rate is so low do you know how many killings would stop and gangs not running the streets selling the shit and how much safer it would be in general but they make way to much money locking people up court cost for 1 day in jail they get paid 1,500$ per person no bullshit that comes out of our tax money fucked up my people
and the guards are making some of them 100'000 or plus a year on overtime they can work doubles and triples and get paid tie in a half there was a huge thing in the paper in Philly about it

All other Country's eat a big lunch and a small dinners, you should not eat past 7 at night. After lunch in Italy everything shuts down after lunch for about 1 and a half to 2 hrs then they go back to work burn it off then eat small dinners. This is why we are the fattest country in the whole world and we rank so low in education it's sickening for us to so called be one of the most powerful Country's in the world we should be way smarter but the government want's us like this and to die at young ages and be sick power plants giving off gases giving people cancer and god know what else in Mexico little girls and boys are having there period at 5 6 7 yrs old cause no reg on the FDA shooting up the chicken with steroids shit this world is crazy do you know in the USA the government has some control over ice cream i wonder why? I'm addicted to that shit too I love it and I crave the fuck out of it makes me wonder why the fuck do they have say over ice cream only the FDA should have say over food there so much shit you can look into just start goggle shit if you have time and you will find out shit that will amaze you i promise we are all puppets in a game controlled buy the suits that have no name no bull

this has been one of the best threads by far everyone was civilized and respectful and knew some pretty good shit reps for everyone on this one

As much as I want to disagree with this, I was actually talking with my GF about this over the weekend. I thought about how 3.5 years ago I really didn't make but $4K less and was living more comfortably. I would come home with a cart full of groceries and be out less than $100, now I go and have less in total yet paid $135 last week. Seriously, I don't have a car note anymore and still am living paycheck to paycheck. The more I think about it so are most of my friends, all of whom like me have good job and get very good salaries. Most really only have a good amount of cash when their bonus comes and they either save it or make big purchases with it.

Something has to give, the US is bleeding its citizens dry at the cost of what exactly?

It's at the cost of all our freedoms. Some they can and will legislate away, others they will take by putting them out of our reach financially.

it's all about controlling global economics. the countries/largest MNE's and TNE's that are the most profitable have the highest stock values. high stock values means higher "credit" to expand with less monies and capital actually coming out of cash reserves of these corporations, etc. for the most part the needs of "Corporate US" is greater than the needs of it's "working class" citizens.

there is a complete lack of innovation though in the US. this will get worst since technological superiority has taken the backseat to big finance. we are churning out less and less high level engineers and scientists, etc. as compared to many other countries. china's new carrier is a sign of others beginning rise to true super-power status along with the US.

it's a sad state of affairs
