Really! Today big companies are too worry about how the shareholders will react if the company does not make the extra few million dollars when there taking in several billion dollar quarter when they send jobs overseas. Really? How are we going to buy there product when people are making less and the job market is in the shit hole now. In a few years no one will get will be able to buy their product.
Second point is the CEO. 10 to 50 million dollar salaries a year to run a company. They can't hire a person that can do it for half million dollars? Are they that good that they need to get paid 50 million dollars.
You're making too many generalizations. Let's look at Gary Kelly of SWA as an example.
He runs the most successful and only consistently profitable (for something like 18 years in a row) major airline in the US with the highest compensated (by a f**king landslide) unionized pilots in the passenger flying business.
Compensation for 2009
Salary $441,750.00 Bonus $590,000.00 Restricted stock awards $0.00 All other compensation $58,344.00 Option awards $ $462,990.00 Non-equity incentive plan compensation $0.00 Change in pension value and nonqualified deferred compensation earnings $6,347.00 Total Compensation $1,559,431.00
Explain to us how he is overpaid for running the most successful airline in the US?
And for the record I wouldn't be caught dead in a SWA cattle car and I'm still pissed they bought AirTran because AT business class is going away.
Just last week I had a financial adviser/planner come in and set up 401K's for my employees. I'm going to match up to 4% of their gross income and I'm paying their annual BS fees for their 401K's vs it coming out of their pockets. My lowest paid employee makes $30,000 yr and my highest paid will make around $90K with quarterly bonuses this year.
What did these guys do by contributing money to the stock market on a monthly basis, that I match as well, that pisses you off? What are they doing to influence any of those 50 companies in a mutual fund that's causing the CEO to fire people or suppress their wages?
